Appearance is a burnt copper with a thin layer of head that dissipated quickly. The nose is certainly hoppy, but also had a sweet note that was hard to place and not altogether pleasant. There was also an essence of nuttiness in the nose as well.

The flavor profile was hoppy, but also inappropriately boozy, as the alcohol bite had a medicinal quality to it.

I admire the effort to brew a really big beer, but this one turned into something of a hot mess.

Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden. They are not really sure what style this should be under, neither am I. I think it is pretty close to an extremely hoppy barleywine so that is what I am adding it as.

A - Pours deep amber orange with a small half finger tall off white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving sticky trails of lace down parts of the glass.

S - Smells of pungent citric hops, fresh cut grass, caramel malt sweetness and plenty of booze. The hops are strong initially however the sweetness and booze really take over as it sits in the glass. It smells great but it hides a dark secret...

T - Starts off with some intense caramel and toffee sweetness that never really fades away. A hint of the hop bitterness helps to break up the intense sweetness but it does little to tone it down. Not a ton of booze initially but it only grows stronger and stronger as it warms up. Finish is quite sweet with an overwhelming amount of booze, lingering for quite awhile after the finish.

M - Super sweet with tons of maltiness. It is borderline overpowering how much malty sweetness this one packs. The booze is very strong from start to finish.

O - It kind of tastes like a super hoppy barleywine mixed with lots of sweetness and booze. It smells decent enough but the taste / feel are kind of tough to stomach. I am all for crazy beers but this is a little over the top.

Draft offering at the source. Many thanks to the kind sole who warned me to only get a 5oz sample glass and nothing more. The brew appears a hazed burnt copper color with an offwhite froth of head that fades slowly leaving a patchy pattern of lace on the glass.

The aroma is dominated by dank hops with a slightly fruity, herbal, pine and floral note. Trying to take in other aromatics reveals nothing but more hops and a solvent inclusion of alcohol

The flavor is absolutely sticky/resinous with pine tar/lupulin. Excessively bitter, dank, herbal. This is so hoppy to the point it almost feels burnt and toasty. A mild candy sweetness somewhat toffee-like sits underneath with plenty of boozy alcohol heft that gets dominating as the brew warms up.

This is a full bodied, modestly carbonated brew. This is a fucking palate crusher holy christ. After having a few sips of this, the ghost chile sauce I put on my pizza didnt really taste like much. Whatever brew this is...barleywine, strong ale or dry hopped rocket fuel...it is rough. Aging this in an oak barrel sure would be interesting...maybe?
