Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours deep dark brown, might as well be black, with a small bubbly head, dissipating down to a small ring around the outer edges, leaving little to no lace down the glass.

S - Smells of rich malty sweetness, light peppery spice, fruity esters, toffee, raisins and other dark fruits. Pretty dull initially but it grows into itself as it warms up.

T - Starts off with a fruity sweetness that never really fades away. The light peppery spice, toffee, caramel and abundant dark fruits help round things out. Booze is hidden pretty well, only really showing itself fully at the end of the glass. Finish is like the start, sweet fruit, with a little booze burn, leaving the palate dried long after the finish.

M - Medium-Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, sweet feel going a bit watery toward the end of the glass. Lacks the body of some of the kings of the style but still pretty good.

O - A nice, serviceable Quad. It has all of the flavors you would expect but it could use a touch more body, maybe from a bit more carbonation. Give it a try if you are into the style.

I appreciated Stakem sharing this with me, enjoyed in a snifter on tap at Al's.

The appearance is practically black like an imperial stout with medium tan head which is small w/ average sized bead, lace sticks well. The smell is mild at first with more raisin coming out as it warms with slight toffee sweetness from the malt andlight woody ester. The feel is rich and full with mild spice and semi bitter with gentle alcohol on the finish.

This tastes very fresh and young with woody aspect and light spice with a nice depth of malt with dark candy sugar element and mild raisin in the yeast flavor with subtle hop aspect rounding out the taste. Overall a pretty respectable quad, very drinkable for the 11.3%, you can't really taste it until it nears cellar temp.

Draft offering at the source served in a snifter. The brew appears a very dark mahogany to brown, nearly black. When held to the light, some lighter hints of brown and ruby coloring show around the edges. A lightly tanned off-white cap produces spotty strings of lace.

The aroma is muted initially but opens up with some dark fruity quality. A mild vinous almost raisony aspect across the back mixes with alcohol and some toffee or molasses sweetness.

The taste is vinous. Plenty of dark and fruity notes with lots of alcohol and mild yeasty spice. It has a bit of a medicinal feel with a mild herbal flavoring. Some bready to biscuit grain aftertaste with a hint of dark sugar like toffee or molasses.

This is a medium to fuller bodied brew with a light amount of carbonation. One of the darker quads ive seen and lacked a bit in the nose but the flavor really made up for it. The alcohol is felt but integrated well for over 11%
