On tap at the Al's/Pizza Boy anniversary event

A - Quite dark, tan head. Looks inviting.

S - The name describes it perfectly. I just get chocolate and bourbon and some roasted malt.

T - Follows the smell really nicely. The chocolate is a bit subdued, possibly to the age, but it does linger in the aftertaste for a while. The alcohol can't be 14% based on my taste buds. Really well hidden. Smooth bourbon throughout. Nicely done.

M - Smooth and no alcohol presence. Almost perfect.

O - Not too much to complain about here. I think the age has probably subdued some of the flavors, but it's still excellent.

Draft offering at the source served in a matching snifter. The brew appears black in color with a quick dissolving brown head. A thin ring of spotty lace sticks around the perimeter of the glass and leaves spots on the wall when swirled.

The aroma is boozy with plenty of chocolate and raw oak notes. A bit of dark raisin character and an earthy roast flavor not too far off from seeming like molasses. Overall a pretty pleasant smelling brew until it gets warmer.

The flavor has what seems like a raw oak character upfront. Quite woody before going to an all bourbon burn. Flavors of earth, molasses and bitter cocoa run all through the profile.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest to lower level of carbonation. An absolute beast to your face but has plenty of character to take in and enjoy. This brew is dangerous...trust me, the brew tastes so good but it will level you if you think you can have glass after glass of it.

Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours jet black with a small tan head leaving little to no lace down the glass. Just like the stout, it is nothing amazing really, just another porter.

S - Smells of chocolate, vanilla, warm bourbon and a decent amount of booze. Very nice balance of aromas for most of the glass going a touch bourbon heavy toward the end of the glass.

T - Starts off with plenty of chocolatey sweetness quickly giving way to the warm bourbon, dry oak and light vanilla sweetness. Sweet heat finish, lingering on the palate long after the finish. Not as balanced as the stout but still fairly easy to consume.

M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, sweet feel with plenty of backing heat. The body is a little thiner than the stout and the added heat doesn't help things either.

O - A very enjoyable BA porter. A little boozier than the little amps but it is still very nice. One of these as a night cap is awesome, two or more and I wouldn't be able to walk out of here.

On tap. Served in a Pizza Boy snifter.

I'm not sure I can find any faults with this beer. It was a rich, smooth, chocolate bourbon bomb. The alcohol is extremely well hidden and the taste was just fantastic. So much so I had multiple servings. I'm not a big fan of reviewing beers. More the guy who either drinks a beer and likes it - drinks more or doesn't like it - doesn't drink more. However for the sake of adding this beer I'm giving you my 2-cents worth of opinion.

Appearance - Jet black.
Smell - Rich chocolate and bourbon.
Taste - Rich chocolate. Strong bourbon.
Mouthfeel - Smooth. Silky.
Overall - Can't find a fault with this beer. It was a little bit of heaven poured into a snifter.
