Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.
A - Pours mostly clear copper orange with a small half finger tall white head, dissipating down to nothing at all, leaving little to no lace down the glass.
S - Smells of mild vinegar, wet oak, bready grain, dulled fruitiness and a bit of mild barnyard funk. As it warms up it becomes pretty vinegar heavy but it's not as out of control as some of the other recent sours have been.
T - Starts off with the sourness which is more restrained than the nose would make it seem. Hints of barnyard funk, very light fruitiness, oak tannins and a tiny bit of vanilla? Finish is pretty sour with some oaky dryness, lingering on the palate long after the finish.
M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Slick, slightly chewy feel with plenty of sour backing from start to finish. The toned down sourness makes this one easier to drink than some of the others but it still packs a punch.
O - Another nice sour ale. It is way more balanced than most of the other sour ales that have come out recently. The added flavors help to keep it in check in the face of the sourness. I will make sure I get a few of these before it goes away again.
