From 02/01/13 notes. Tried this at Al's last weke on tap, reviewed out of a 32 oz. growler. Poured into a tulip.

a - Pours a somewhat clear golden-yellow one color with one inch of bright white head and low carbonation evident.

s - Smells of citra hops, lemon, fruity malts, floral hops, grapefruit, tropical fruits, wheat, grains, earthy notes, and hay. Awesome nose; lots of citrus and hops, very nice.

t - Tastes of of citrus hops, pale malts, fruity malts, earthy notes, wheat, grains, grapefruit, and light floral hops. Nice taste which I like, though not quite as fruity or hoppy as the nose.

m - Medium body and low carbonation. Very easy to drink; could definitely take down the whole growler.

o - Overall a very good pilsner; I love citra hops and they make for a great smelling beer here. Easy to drink, would like to have it again.

Yowza. Crazy levels of grass on this beer. Really. It's grassy. The citra doesn't seem to be there much; at least to the degree you see it in a lot of other beers. Very sharp. Clean feel, but the overly sharp grass aspects make this very much a sipper. I could deal with a lot smoother aspect to it.

Pour is pale amber yellow, lightly cloudy, with a tight creamy white head. Nose is hop forward, citrus and grassy hops. Some pleasant grain, bready an fresh. Taste is a bit bitter for a pilsner, lots of hops. This leans more to the grassy-hay side but still some light citrus and grapefruit. Body is light and drinkable with a nice refreshing carbonation.

Had this on 2013-01-19 in Front Royal, VA

A - Clear golden yellow with a 1-finger white head that fades fairly quickly. Nice lacing.

S - Bread, orange, lemon grass, nice lager yeast aroma. Good pils smell.

T - Citra-tart citrus up front, some herbal/grass. Very light bready malt. About as bitter as a Prima Pils. Subdued malt; not a traditional pils flavor; leaning more towards a pale ale but still quite flavorful.

M - Light body and medium carbonation. Crisp, very dry and refreshing.

O - Hard to believe this is just 4% with so much flavor. Reminds me of a cross between a Stoudts Pils and a 21st-Amendment Bitter American. I like both so this is a good thing. Also of note, the 2L growler cost just $10 with tax; an excellent value. I'm impressed. I like Troegs Sunshine Pils a bit more but this is good stuff. Put it in bottles and it'd be a regular in my fridge.

Review from notes taken several months ago. On tap at Pizza Boy served in a pils glass. The brew appears a clear straw yellow color with a finger of white fluff. The brew displays solid retention with a sudsy white top that fades leaving patches of lace all over the glass.

The aroma is earthy and herbal with rinds almost more of a zesty lemon and noble feel than what you might expect of citra hops. It is clean and to the point without fault.

The taste is herbal and noble with a crisp bite of hops overtop a bready grain base. There is a firm grassiness and mild zesty pith and rind element mid-palate.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is crisp, clean, snappy, refreshing and easy drinking. Pretty much everything you should expect in a pils but this one is a little different in the usage of hops. Nice and worth checking out.
