The third Bogedal in the series I tried.

This poured a port/ruby color, again no foam.

It’s something akin to a Belgian dark ale. It has an interesting aroma, with some burnt caramel and raisin notes. There’s an apparent maltiness to this.

The flavor has a sweet roast to it, with the sharpness of the roast undercut by the sugars. I get a lot of stone fruit, dried fruit, raisins and fig. Sweet finish.

Served on tap at Rattle N Hum in New York, NY

A: Pours a very dark brown almost black with very little head. What little head that was present was a light beige in color and dissipated immediately leaving no head at all. No lacing was present.

S: Sweet malts, dark fruit, and some light toffee + caramel sweetness.

T: Caramel + toffee sweetness upfront with a malt body that includes hints of dark fruit and finishes with a light bitterness. There are some subtle hints of spices/pepper in this beer.

M: Medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Very interesting white pepper hints really separate this beer from it's peers. Very enjoyable but not as easy drinker - more of a sip and reflect kind of beer. I would definitely have this beer again but it is not one I would want to have multiple in a session.

A: The beer is very dark brownish amber in color. It poured with a dense patch of tan bubbles in the center of the glass and a thick ring of dense bubbles around the edge of the glass. The head eventually completely faded away.
S: There are light to moderately strong aromas of dark fruits in the nose along with some hints of sweetness.
T: The taste has flavors of dark fruits along with notes of orange peel and hints of sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer goes down rather easily because no traces of alcohol are detectable in the taste but it makes for a nice sipping beer.

Corked and caged, bottled in 2008. Poured into a Stone flute glass. Pours a very dark, opaque reddish brown. Very little signs of carbonation; thin fine light brown ring around the glass and no lacing. Mild aroma of sweet malt and dark fruit, reminiscent of sherry. Flavor follows, dark and roasted malts, dark fruit, chocolate with a light citrus element in the finish as the only evidence of the orange peel noted on the label. Flavors are low key and well melded together, as expected from a three year old aged bottle. A nice mellow aged Belgian dark ale, somewhat diminished by very low carbonation. I'm glad I got a chance to try this rare Belgian style ale from Denmark.

Appearance: dark brown almost black in color with a short caramel colored head.

Smell: malt sweetness and a hint of coffee comes through to the nose,

Taste: follows the nose as caramel, soft coffee, fruit sweetness, some orange citrus, and a moderate bitterness makes up a flavorful beer.

Mouthfeel : medium bodied. Light crispness to start, smoother at the finish.

Overall: despite the moderate alcohol level, this is a slower sipping beer as the flavors are enjoyable and meant to be lingered over. A very tasty beer.
