22 oz bottle. Pours a very clear amber. Fizzy white head disappears immediately, leaving no signs of lace.

Some booze-soaked fruit comes to mind first. Darker, bready malt with a slight caramel edge. Ripe fruit notes. Only a tracy of spicy, earthy notes.

Nice malt character, a bit sweet, darker and bready. Ripe fruit flavors linger for a while. A bit of an artificial, metallic twinge. Only slightly spicy. No real yeasty notes here. Pretty clean, with some warmth at the end, as it dries out slightly.

Body seems thin, a good amount of carbonation. A bit boozy. The aroma is nice, and the bready malt is enjoyable. Not bad.

22oz. bomber.

A: very dark, deep ruby red dark brown color, thin layer of lacing on top
S: nice earthy plum, aged qualities (mine was one year old), with sweetish malt
T: decent beer, not a ton of depth but better than I expected, sweeter up front as expected for dubbel but lacked character such as yeastiness, somewhat thin and watery
M: nice, rounded
D: OK, but lacked charcter

Bought at Buckeye more than a year ago, and that ageing or getting a great batch made a big difference. A tasty little treat. Somewhat malty and bannana and fruity berry. Sweetish and very drinkable. Creamy yeasty mouthfeel. Malty aroma. Big yeasty head.

A- Pours clear amber almost wine like. Poured hard, little tan head, fades quick to just a ring around the edge.

S- Tropical fruits, caramel apple pastry. Sweet! Maybe over-ripened fruit? Sweet! Faint hint of alcohol. Above average, I cant believe this is a local beer.

T- Not as complex as the nose, toffee, overripe fruits. Its all good!

M- Dry, medium body, alcohol is well balanced, wine-like.

D- Its a pleasure to drink but one bomber is enough. A little to sweet to have another tonight. Will definitely have again!

a: pretty ridiculous label, served in ye olde Schlitz chalice, negligible head immediately goes dead on the pecan brown ale

s: nutty brown malts with some sugary toffee and brief flashes of yeasty phenols and esters, sweet dates, lightly sweet ethanol

m: nearly flat save for a brief tickle of carbonation across the tongue, medium bodied and a touch slick

t: more of the nutty toffee malt structure from the nose, slick and sweet at first without much complexity, light-moderate yeast influence, just a touch of butter, finishes drier with a citrus pith hop flavor and moderate bitterness, an improvement over the nose - but a lackluster experience all told: not really messy, nothing particularly off, but sweet and without the yeasty complexity that really characterizes the Belgian styles

d: meh, not terrible, the booze strikes quickly

I drank this from a 22oz bomber into my Rochefort chalice.

The beer pours a disappointing oily looking, clear, light brown. There is hardly even a whiff of a head.

The aroma is very light with a little malt on the front and alcohol at the end. The malts come across as biscuit, yeast, and a little toffee.

The taste is very light, mostly alcohol with a little yeast and bad aftertaste.

The feel is total water and very limited in drinkability.

Overall, a very disappointing beer and a bad first impression for me of Buckeye Brewing.

Appears a crystal clear ruby hue with a bright off white khaki head forms minimal speckled lacing. Aromatics offer up Christmas spices with cinnamon, ginger, and all spice flow a nice plum fruit over ripened sweetness comes to play as well. Also some citrus peel with the spice and mild herbal hops. Flowing flavor of christmas spice, plum and raisin Belgian style sweetness with candied sugar aspects available mostly malts and sugar no real hops to speak of in flavor. Mouthfeel can get cloying but overall enjoyable experience I've dealt with most of their regular lineup, this one was decent. Drinkability is okay a really average beer that doesn't belong on Santa's wish list.

The cap on this bottle clearly had a little ring from the caper. What startled me was that this was convex, or an outty. Could pressure alone do this? Well, when I popped this one, it was over-carbonated to beat hell. I'm guessing I just dodged a bottle bomb. When I opened it, it frothed out like mad. The first gentle pour down the side of my over-sized Liberal Cup exploded into fuzz. As I sat this down to settle, the bottle continued to snake out a coil of froth. Once in the glass, it was a nice dark brown amber with a little peach to it. The head wa a frothy tan with a few darker splotches in it.

Smells of caramel, sweet plumb and gingerbread with a spicy sting of alcohol.

Tastes similar with Wheaties and dark fruits that pick up some spicy, herbal notes and a touch of black pepper. Finishes with red licorice and a nice dry and woody hop that blends well with the spices. This also warms my mouth a little.

Feels very smooth but dense with a small storm of carbonation.

Not too bad. The spices in this one really do a lot to make this unique.

Thanks goes out to beveritt for this brew.

Poured into a chalice a nice brown color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger creamy tan head, with some nice sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, with some yeast, figs, raisins, plums. The taste is malty, yeasty, sweet, with some dark fruits. Medium body. Drinkable, this is a pretty tasty brew.

22 oz bomber, brought back from a trip Ohio, has been sitting in basement for a while. Label as pictured above.
Very dark mahagony color, with a thick tan head. Foamy head, good retention, nice looking lace. Decent belgian yeast aroma, some prune/plum smell. A mix of fruit flavors, yeasty, clove spices, licorice, but all a bit thin. Some bitternes at the end, but no aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a little thin but average. Maybe I was expecting more deep richness, good but no real 'wow' factor.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with OhioDad (thanks!).

Poured a medium and clear reddish/brown color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits (plums and raisins), yeast, and caramel. Tastes follow the same. Fizzy and carbonated body (that didn't detract).

Pours a crystal clear clear amber. Slight carbonation. Head dissapates immediately.

Smells of malts. Very slight dubbel spice. Not as pronounced as I would expect.

Taste is along the lines of the smell. I don't understand how this is a dubbel as I am getting NO Belgianesque spices.

Very thin on the mouth.

This beer strikes me more as a light amber, not a dubbel. If you want a dubbel ... look elsewhere.

Extremely dark amber pour, light is barely visible when held next to the light. Fizzy tan head that dwindles, decent retention with minimal lacing. Aroma has a slight belgian familiarity of yeast and earthiness. Some faint aromas of dark fruits and licorice with some spices mixed in. Mild body, finish is a touch watery and off balance. Decent taste, flavors of sweet malts and spices such as clove and nutmeg appear. Good brew but seems underdeveloped. Great label though.

Appearance - uncaps with a forceful rush of air. Pours a cola brown with 5 to 6 quick fingers of light mocha foam. Pillowy like clouds, it slowly settles down to half height. The pour will take a while...

Aroma - prior reviews make no mention of any Brett-like funkiness, but that's the predominant smell here. Oh well, I'm drinking it anyway...

Taste - yeah, much like the aroma, this has a funky thing going on that suggests either contamination or Brettiness of some kind. There is also some sweetness in there, supporting some cocoa flavors, and the funky bit hasn't overrun the palate with anything nasty. It's really hard to tell if the bottle is off or performing as intended. I'll have to try this one again.

Mouthfeel - a nice sturdy body and some zippy carbonation are well-done.

Drinkability - not for me if this is the way it's supposed to taste. I'll try it again though next time I see it.

Thanks to Kingpin for a chance to sample this beer. Served from a bottle, this pours a clear dark ruby color with a small white head that quickly dissappears and minimal or no lacing on the glass. The smell is slight but fruity(plum and raisin). The taste is light but fruity, with plum, raisin and a hint of banana. The mouthfeel is about right and it is quite drinkable. This lacks the intensity of a great dubbel, but it's not bad.

(Served in a tulip glass)

A- This beer pours a warm brown slightly dense body with a red glow and a carbonation of a microbubbles net. There is a creamy light tan head that last as a film for much of the brew.

S- There is a light sweet perfume sugar note with some faint caramel malt notes in the background.

T- This beer has a soft toasted sugar note with some dark sweetness in the background and a soft red apple skin note followed by faint tart dry notes at the finish.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a soft red wine alcohol heat coming through as the beer warms.

D- This beer is pretty smooth to drink but in the same note it is also pretty boring to drink. Not much depth or even subtle qualities to make it interesting.

22 oz. bottle in a goblet.

A - Dark ruby red brown with a thin layer of white head.

S - Fruity and malt scents. A little faint though.

T - Smooth and sweet. Good spice and malt.

M - Medium bodied with good carbonation.

D - Good beer but a little too sweet for me.

Pours a deep amber color with a light tan head. In the aroma, a Belgian like sweetness, malty and hints of alcohol. In the taste, quite malty and a nice presence of cocoa. A smooth medium body in the mouthfell and a sweet light malty aftertaste. Bigger nose than taste, however not too shabby for a micro style Belgian.
