Another bottle with a label that caught my eye. Pours a light amber color with a medium head that has nice retention and leaves a little lacing on the glass. The aroma has plenty of US hops (citrus, mostly) along with a backing of caramel malt sweetness. The flavor followed suit very well. The extreme balance on this one really caught me the right way. The citrus flavors blended really well with the caramel malt. Very tasty. If I were more of a hop head, this would be my session pale ale. The body is moderate and the drinkability is great.

Appearance - major effervescence on the pour. Three plus fingers shot up quickly in large, lightly tanned bubbles. Very active bead also. The head charges up easily when more beer is poured in, but tends to melt down rapidly. The beer itself is a hazed dull orange.

Aroma - very citrusy, oranges mostly. Smells juicy and sweet albeit one-dimensional.

Taste - a touch of fruity sweetness to start, but all too soon the bitterness crashes in, turning the whole affair dry and bitter prematurely, in my opinion. I think the pales should allow the softer side of the hop profile to come through, this one does the opposite. The bitter intensity is kept in check, impressive considering how bitter is actually is, but tends towards medicinal just the same. A bit of a letdown for me style-wise but the hopheads might dig it more.

Mouthfeel - thin, again quite surprising for a beer with such a ramped up flavor. The carbonation is very high, I might be able to explore the palate better if it were toned down.

Drinkability - I'm glad I tried it but this experience is chalked up for posterity's sake only.

Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a pint glass. Appearance is a cloudy, unfiltered-looking orange-amber hued ale. Light lacing is left behind from a cream head. The aroma is quite hoppy, with some citrus and apple notes, perhaps grapefruit.

Taste is slightly sweet and earthy with a grain and hops robustness to it. There is little to no carbonation, whille the hops leave a lasting bite through to the finish. Very refreshing IPA, have 2-3 without getting bored and/or overwhelmed.

Orange-dominant tawny with juicy apricot edges. A generous amount of carbonation is the author of a multiple finger, pale caramel head that should be soft and airy, but is instead thick and creamy. It's also sticky enough to leave scattered chunks of lace on the glass when it eventually departs. A second pour lays down an even thicker coat that eventually dries to an attractive crust.

Sasquatch Pale Ale smells much better than its namesake (presumably). The nose is a truly wonderful mixture of brown sugary caramel malt and grapefruity hops. Columbus is used for bittering (appropriate for a beer from the Buckeye Brewing Company) and Cascade is used for dry-hopping. One of the best APA aromas that I've encountered in many a month.

The flavor is very nearly the equal of the nose. What strikes me about Sasquatch is its balance. It's relatively easy to brew a balanced beer when ingredients are added with a stingy hand. When they're added in quantity, I'm guessing that it's a much more difficult proposition. All the more reason to be impressed with this beer.

I usually like the scales to be tipped much farther to the hoppy side of things, but given what they've done with '76 IPA, Buckeye has the ridiculously hoppy niche already covered. The melted caramel sweetness in Sasquatch is some kind of delicious and is perfectly (for all you balance fetishists) countered by mildly resinous, grapefruit rind hop bitterness.

As the bomber continues to disappear apace, it's apparent that this beer is so good because it bumps up against the style guidelines; coming close to, but not quite reaching, IPA territory. Now that I've had more than just a handful of their offerings, it's also obvious that BBC is easily the second best brewery in the state of Ohio. If I still lived in Cleveland, my fridge would always be stocked with multiple styles from both Great Lakes and Buckeye Brewing.

The body/mouthfeel is probably a shade bigger than the style average and is easily more smooth. All that malt lends silkiness, even as all those hops lend a pleasant biting quality. The amount of carbonation is on the high end, but is easily managed and adds to the 'mouth party' atmosphere.

Unlike Sasquatch the creature, Sasquatch the pale ale is the real deal. It's an excellent APA that has loads of flavor and sky-high drinkability. The more fresh Buckeye beer that I drink, the more impressed I become. I'll be sure to pick up multiples bombers on all future trips home since I'm guessing that there won't be any Sasquatch sightings in Iowa any time soon.

22 oz bottle. Off-white head with a ton of yeast in suspension. Almost brown body that is quite nice.

Aroma that is quite similar to Alpha King. Shit the bed fred this is quite balanced and amazing smelling. Floral Hops and malt are perfectly balanced.

Such a glorious taste...like surviving Bastogne must have been. Floral and citrus hops perfectly balanced with the malt. Not intruding at all. Malt is caramel and honey.

Medium mouthfeel and perfect carbonation. Easy drinking and is better than Hippy IPA and '76 in my opinion. Awesome stuff.

I purchased this beer from The Dilly Deli for $3.79. The beer was served in a pub glass.

Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy dark amber coloration. The beer has a very thick fluffy creamy white head. The head is two fingers high. There is major staying power with the head.

Smell: The beer has a pleasing lemon, citrus zest and pine resin smell. There is a very nice combination of caramel and pepperyness.

Taste: Unfortunately the beer comes off blandly hopped. The sweet caramel maltyness dominates the hops. I am utterly disappointed in the taste.

Mouthfeel/ Drinkability: The beer is majorly on the thin bodied side. The taste doesnt particularly linger. This was a descently drinkable beer; however, I just will never pick it up again.

Pours a solid golden color with very nice clarity even though some small chunks are hanging out in there as well. A 2 finger fluffy head sits and is maintained by a nice cascade of bubbles on top of the beer. Nose is lightly peppery with a moderate caramel sweetness behind it, but not a whole lot more. Flavor is much the same as the nose...mostly peppery hoppyness with a moderate caramel base behind it. There is just a hint of citrusy hop playing towards the end, with a mild bitterness that fades slowly on the finish. Okay. Feel is moderate with a light to moderate carbonation. Drinkability is better than the individual parts would lead me to believe. Its smooth and quaffable. Overall, there is not as much complexity as I would like there to be. The nose is pretty simple, and the flavor is as well. A standard APA in my opinion.

The color was about right. The head was billowy. The smell was promising, but this beer just choked in the batters box. The flavor was thin and overall disappointing. My roommate said quite accurately, "It's like a decent beer with soda water." Friends, I am a member of BEERadvocate.com not crappymixeddringadvocate.com. This beer is not worth your time or money. The Hippie IPA and Matian Marzen by Buckeye are both better options if you are in the Cleveland/Bedford Hts. area.

Bronze hue with a trace haze. Lofty, pitted, whipped butter white head yields frothy lace. Soft, caramel sweetened grapefruit with a lemon zest twang prevalent in aroma. Secondary spicy, peppery hints. Well rounded aromawise. Initially in flavor is an impression of lightly tart underripe tangerine. Ensuing is a balanced, simple combination of light lovibond caramel sweetness and rind like hop bitterness. Malt sweetness does fade mid palate, allowing a rather minerally, drying hop bitterness to dominate. Lacks overt malt character other than the caramel malt presence and is quite well attenuated, but this allows for a quenching, satiating bitterness. As the beer warms, hints of toasted and bready pale malt undertone surface modestly. Finishes parchingly dry, with hints of sweet/sour orange candy yielding to fading cracker like malt. A balanced, innocuous pale. Shy in malt character, but this faciliates an airyness that makes this downright inhalable. Thanks to the beergeek from WV for the delivery.

Appearance: Crystal clear caramel amber copper hue forms a nice sized beige head leaves behind streaks of even lacing. Aroma: Deep grapefruit citrus hops with a bit of pine cone like hop character as well malts are here not completely muted a nice roasty caramel presence not bad. Taste: Flavor melds both the hoppy and malty character into a balanced introductory pale ale nothing too aggressive here but the flavors work very well the soft biscuit and caramel malts with the citrus and pine hop flavor along with a good amount of bitterness equals damned good. Mouthfeel: Medium to light body doesn't sit heavy at all a very fine evenly textured pale low on hop resin oily texture good strong carbonation that's not too much. I welcome the hop burps that this beer creates very nice. Drinkability: Definitely the session pale ale and a wise selection for one of their flagship brews, I need to visit this place again to sample some seasonals.

Very, Very Nice Pale Ale.

Not over powering, but very tasty. Any "beer drinker" who likes a hoppy beer would enjoy this hairy monster- Sasquatch.

This is Hippies long lost little brother.

Great beer to introduce a beginer to the land of hops!

Served in the 22 oz. bomber into a pint glass. The color is copper, with a bubbly white head. The smell is a strong maltiness with just a touch of citrus hops. The taste is dominated by the amber malt, with a fair brush of citrus hops in it. Mouthfeel is average. As for drinkability, maybe have a few more.

Thanks to BIF 8.0 and AKSmokedPorter for the beer. While I generally don't accept much from the Cleveland area, I'll make an exception for Buckeye. If you like your pale ale on the malty side, then this is your beer. A solid-tasting brew, and I'd have one again

I’m getting more of a spruce sap-type aroma more than a citrus hop aroma, but whatever. This is quite hoppy for an APA in aroma and flavor. In fact, it verges on being an IPA instead of an APA. The body is fairly light, despite a nice caramel and wood maltiness.

Appearance – The dark, orangish-brown body promised a nice malt balance. The head came up smartly and lingered for a good time, leaving a nice pit-pool of foam on top of the liquid.

Smell – The sharp hop aroma is complex. It consists primarily of citrus but also has strong floral and resin notes. The caramel malt base announces itself here as well.

Taste – Boy, the caramel malts are nice. They are very sugary and light and mix very well with the complex hop profile from the nose. I like the tangy nature of this malty Pale Ale. Don’t misinterpret this to mean that the hops are smallish, because they are there in force. I just found the malt backbone to be very unique and tasty.

Mouthfeel – Medium-bodied, nicely carbonated, and borderline exciting.

Drinkability – I finally found a beer that goes well with pasta! This one is versatile and unique.

Comments – Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, picks out ales like OldFrothingSlosh. When OFS is in effect all is well. Thanks for sending this one all the way to Seattle, bro.

This is a good 22oz APA. Pours a deep amber color with a thick off-white head. Pleasantly hoppy and citrusy aroma. Flavor is a rather subdued blend of hops and caramel malt. I think it could have been a little more robust, especially considering how hoppy Buckeye seems to like their other brews. Still, this wasn't bad at all.

Hazy. Nice amber/copper color with a light cream colored head. Furity and hoppy nose with some distinct citrus notes. The mouthfeel is zesty. The flavor expresses a lighlty caramel malt with a high level of citrusy hop character and a decent amount of bitterness. The finish is clean, dry, and lasting. A very nice beer.
