Barbapapa is our Imperial Russian Stout. A big beer, brewed using one of our crazy double mash methods, whereby we brew once, run off the wort, and mash into-that-wort to brew a second time. The result is a beer of great depth and maltiness. Job’s a good’un.

L: pitch black. thick, creamy mocha colored head. decent amount of lacing.
S: roasted malts, chocolate. slight anise.
T: similar to the aroma, roasted malts and baker's chocolate lead the way. black licorice comes through as well.
F: Very creamy. Medium-high carbonation. Finishes somewhat dry
O: This is a dead ringer for me with Founders Imperial Stout (FIS), which is great compliment as I consider FIS one of the best imperial stouts I've ever had. This is drinking very well considering its age (7+ years). Wish I had another one of these. Sad to know this brewery is no longer but happy I was able to have one of their beers. And a (still) outstanding one at that.

Black color with brown head. Aroma seems hoppy and malty with caramel and fudge. Taste starts sweet and with chocolate, caramel, coffee and some dark, dried fruits. Body is heavy but well carbonated. Really well made and really complex taste for a non barrel aged RIS.

Bottle share. Nice aroma, taste alright. Smooth, silky, caramel, toffee, butterscotch. Not as boozy as you would think with the ABV. Rich and velvety.
