Tried a glass of this beer from the Blind Pig pub in Athol, Mass. The beer tap was actually a tree with babies in it.

I wasn't sure how well a beer with 9% alcohol would taste, but I was plesantly surprised.

It had a slightly fruity smell, but not strong like juice or anything, just slightly detectable.

The flavor was fantastic. I have never had a beer like this before, it was very clean and crisp, but still felt like drinking a beer. No bitter taste what-so-ever. It wasn't too sweet either. It was like they made a fantastic beer using the cleanest water in the world somehow...not sure how they pulled that off.

Feels very good in the mouth and goes down smooth. Not a chugging beer by any means, but it's smooth enough where that 9% could get you in trouble pretty quickly.

A - Poured a deep brown with a small head that leaves nice lacing in a chalice.
S - The nose is dark fruit and sweet.
T - Its close to the smell with lots of the fruit, plums, cherry. A bit earthy and of course yeast.
M - Medium heavy body and a finish with a bit of alcohol.
O - Good flavor enjoyed during an afternoon thunderstorm.

From the 650 ml. bottle with an expiration date of February 2014. Sampled on May 29, 2014. So I am beyond the expiration date but it is a Quad and that makes a lot of difference. Served about 50 degrees.

A gorgeous looking mahogany brown-amber with reddish hues and a modest off-white head that fades some but does not disappear.

All those traditional Belgian yeast and candied sugar elements play up big in the aroma with some dark fruits, molasses, and spice to round it out. No booze.

Medium to full body.

The taste is wonderfully roasted sweet maltiness with Belgian sugar, brown sugar, and.or molasses in there to sweeten it even more. A toasty biscuit feel too. Mild and low hop finish. The alcohol cannot be tasted but it certainly gets into my head. Drink slowly and enjoy.
