Our first Spring, we brought you a magical tree full of waving babies… and the Baby Tree has stuck around, we’re happy to say. So for our second Spring, and each Spring since, we’ve made a pale gold, hoppy triple called Fluffy White Rabbits. This is a fun and Springy beer: possibly even our fun-est beer. In Yorkshire, they say “White Rabbits” on the first of the month for luck, and here’s to a lovely warm Springtime for all of us!

The beer is 8.5% abv, with Saaz, Styrian Goldings and Strisselspalt hops added aplenty. Fluffy mouthfeel: yes, really! There’s a faint sweetness with tropical fruit undertones. Fluffy White Rabbits is a very “Pretty Things” take on a Triple.

We use what we think are the finest ingredients around: malts from Weyermann (Germany) and Fawcett (Yorkshire) in this beer.

It’s a fun one, we hope you enjoy it!

Dann has been working on the poem for this beer since springtime of 2009. One day, maybe you’ll come back and find it here. One day.

Pours dark golden amber with a light honey cloudiness (SRM 8-10). Casual waves of fine carbonation build a modest, rocky, off-white head that leaves a frosting of lace on an Antiek chalice.

The aroma is spicy and sweet with banana bread and ripe pears. Crisp and fresh with warmth that brings clove and sweet perfume.

As stated on the label, this is a bitter Tripel. Fruit-infused honey sweetness quickly gives way to balance out the bitterness. White grapes and apricot announce the start to a mild, short finish that returns after fading. Warmth brings out pepper.

A medium body and satin texture contain the alcohol. Slight metallic notes are lifted by lively, fine carbonation that scrubs the palate.

This is a pleasant and sophisticated beer. While at first bold, it slowly becomes nuanced with subtle characteristics. It is interesting on its own, yet, unfortunately will not be produced again.

First drink was not impressive but it was my fault. The beer was stored at too cold a temperature for a triple. Poured into a snifter, a hazy gold-brown with almost no head and little lacing. A slightly sweet and a bit bitter taste. Hints of all-spice. It is a good triple, but not memorable. Overall, not a bad beer.

Poured gold with fluffy white head. Smell had fruity hops, especially of the tropical variety and orange. Taste clashed to me, with big bold fruit trapped in a boozy and yeasty body, though spices and herbs helped bridge, comes across almost like rum fruit in fruit cake. Body was springy and light with decent carbonation.
