Bottled May 2010

A - Nice slightly hazy amber color with a healthy 1 finger head. Took a while to dissolve just into a lacing that simply didn't go away.

S - A nice funk that pairs great with the citrus and hoppy yeast aromas

T - Very intense! Citrus zest and the grains linger. This is a very tasty brew.

M - This feels great on the tongue. Nice carbonation, exactly what I was hoping for.

D - This is very, very drinkable. Dangerously drinkable. Would go great on a hot day. Nice and smooth and dry.

I should note, this is my first time buying a "Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project". I would definately buy this again and will have to try another brew from these guys if given the chance. $7.99 for the bomber, great price for a great farmhouse ale!

Poured from bottle into Pretty Things globe/tulip.
Golden amber color with a finger of white head. Nice peppery and slight citrusy saison aromas. Flavors of peppery saison and rye up front with a big malty bready and rye finish. Fairly hopped - spicy saaz like hops maybe? Full malty mouthfeel - maybe a bit heavy but its pleasant. Overall, this is a really nice classic saison. Very enjoyable.

A - glowing yellow-orange with half-inch head. lace stayed slightly above fluid line and gently came down with the beer.

S - yeast & herbs

T - bread, spices, & rye

M - light carbonation, refreshing

O - excellent

Had this @ Mead House in Cambridge. Served in a Pretty Things goblet. Went well with mesclun salad and fries.

Poured from a bottle at home.

A: deep golden color with orange hues

S: some clove and pepper phenolics from Belgian yeast; slight grainy aroma from wheat, oats

T: a bit of spice and pepper, finishes bitter; slight kick from rye is apparent, some bready notes from other grains

M: well carbonated, medium body; present on tongue long after finish; carbonation helps keep it lighter in mouth

O: overall a good saison with some amber influence; works well on a cool fall afternoon

This would work nicely with spicy Thai food or a rich pork dish with some peppery or herbal and phenolic notes.

We put a 1/6th keg of this on tap, and it was sold out in 7 days! This is a full bodied, harvest time saison. More brown, richer and slightly sweeter than many saisons (and Pretty Things own signature Jack D'or). Pours a light amber, darker than most saisons, with an aroma of rye and roasted oat in the mix of grains. Tasting it leads to a very full bodied mouthfeel (almost cream-soda like) with just enough of a hop kick to cleanse the palate. A very nice seasonal style for the cooling New England Fall.
