Bottled June 2012

A: Nice head and lacing.

S: Dusty yeast, bread and leafy hops.

T: Doughy and yeasty with herbal hops that are a bit bitter on the finish. Fairly balanced flavor.

M: Initally very carbonated, hits a sweet spot, and then quickly flattens out.

O: Remarkably flavorful beer for the abv. Unsurprisingly, it's very drinkable.

Thanks, brooklynbrews!

A slightly hazed darker apricot or peach skin in color. Very persistent, whipped-cream style, near-white head. Lots of sticky lacing left all the way down the glass. A gorgeous beer, no matter how you slice it. Truly something special to admire in the glass.

Not a very expressive aroma, even after a little bit of warming. Some toast and mild biscuit, with just a touch of a fruity hop character I would call apricot.

Surprising bitterness leads the way, along with mild straw, and a little bit of lingering apricot hop character finish. Cracker and pale malts throughout. Very drinkable. A bit of an earth or dirt character as well. Nice, but nothing standout about it.

Medium bodied with near-high carbonation.

A tasty little low ABV number, but unexciting almost across the board.

Pretty Things Magnifico

Appears cloudy golden apricot, white head fine lacing. Aroma earthy citrus with some English yeast notes, nice pungency. Flavors abrasive hop action with wormwood yeast open fermentation like nuances dirty earthiness weighs down the palate. Mouthfeel again a bit harsh especially for such a low alcohol beer. Overall I will try it again this sample is extremely fresh just some flavors not meshing very well.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into an oversized wine glass (they always seem to be drinking from them...)- pours a hazy golden straw color with one finger of head, mild retention and only a few dots of lacing.

Smell is mild but interesting- definitely some malt (maybe a little rye as well), as well as a subtle hop presence. Nonetheless a pretty earthy smell.

Taste is surprisingly complex for such a low alcohol content beer- definitely seems like there's some rye to this one; I get some sharp notes mid-palate after initial malt sweetness. Bittering hops take over towards the end, perhaps in conjunction with yeast, to provide a nice dry finish.

Mouthfeel is pretty good- a little resin, light body, moderately carbonated. I love this one- an excellent summer refresher.

Hazy and bright orange in the glass with a nice bit of white head. Some bready and doughy notes on the nose which sit nicely alongside a slight fruity character. Some grassy hop character as well.

A good balance of flavors in a light package. Malts stand strong but don't over power the more delicate hop flavors. A nice mix of earthy/grassy notes with some nice Cascade citrus pop and rounded out with a healthy dose of IBU's.

Mouthfeel is a light and a bit bubbly. Overall, low-ABV beer that goes big on flavor making for a great easy drinker.

S: Bitter, perfume-like hops, light grapefruit peel

L: Cloudy golden yellow, creamy white head dissipates. Decent lacing.

T: Bitter, dry maltiness up front. Medium high herbal/citrusy bitterness with some herbal hop flavor. Light malt character with a dry, slightly chalky finish.

M: Medium light bodied, medium carbonation.

Kind of an older bottle (June 2012). So maybe unfair to judge, but not a huge fan of this beer. Very bitter and dry.

Had on draft at Publick House, was stunned to see it on the menu! Review from notes.

Poured into a mug a fizzy, translucent grass yellow color.

Earthy hops on the nose. Seemed to me to be dry-hopped with a noble hop - and I see Sterling on the press release now - very similar to Saaz/Hallertau.

A sip is clean, dry and crisp, the malt was pretty dominated by a very strong earthy bitterness (definitely Magnum!). Lots of carbonation, medium/fuller bodied - overall I found the bitterness biting with the firm carbonation and a touch overwhelming and couldn't finish my mug. I won't dock many points because I had this late in my evening after some sours. I should have had started with it, the 3.4% was great.

I submitted this beer and I'm not sure what style Pretty Things classifies it as - seemed like an English Bitter to me, but I hope to learn what they call it. Tasty and sessionable in abv, but pretty boldly bitter. *** UPDATED -- had it again last night as my first beer and it was very very good. Bubbly and bitter.

Poured from a brown 22 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, grains, some sweetness. Taste is surprisingly hoppy, some malts, grains, very easy drinking. The fruitiness usually found in Belgian ales seems to be missing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a refreshing and enjoyable beer.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a hazy light to medium golden amber with a fine half finger white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of light biscuit malt and citrus. Flavor follows with light biscuit malt, citrus and grassy hops with light grapefruit rind. Finishes with very light biscuit malt and lingering grassy hops. Light bodied with active carbonation. A light ale, resembling an American pale ale more than a Belgian pale, but remarkably flavored for 3.4%. Quite an achievement for the ABV. A very nice lunch beer.

A: poured into a tulip to a light gold with a half finger of dense off white head that retains well
S: smells slightly fruity and some spicy yeast aroma is going on as well
T: taste is slightly fruity with a bit of spice and some nice sweetness. very delicate hop flavor as well with a slight citrus and faint grassyness. swallow is more light fruityness and a bit of residual hop bitterness.
M: This beer is light with slightly prickly carbonation and a refreshing finish
O: This is a pretty good beer. the flavors are all there and there is nothing off the mark. It drinks very easily and effortlessly. Definitely a nice beer for a hot day.
