Got back from my trip and had to make sure to put up a review for this place! A must visit for any beer enthusiast while in Charleston. This place ranks up there with any other true, craft beer store in America. 5's across the board. CBX has an amazing, and routinely rotating tap list for growler fills that highlights the best of local beer (COAST & Palmetto), other SE regional breweries (sad I have to go to SC to see SweetWater Dank Tank available for growler fills), and national breweries (New Holland, Dogfish Head, & Ommegang were some of the highlights while I was in town). They also have a nice fridge full of fresh hoppy beers ready to drink. The fact that they maintain a light controlled environment, very clean tap lines, and well organized stock speaks to the passion of the owners and employees for craft beer. Everyone I met was as helpful as could be in making sure I got taken care of, and went out of their way to help me get the best beers to bring back to my friends in Atlanta. While the store is, physically, rather small, they do an exceptional job of stocking a wide variety of beers. All the best craft brews from America, including some vintage & limited release bottles are there, and the import selection is one of the best I have encountered. I look forward to future visits to Charleston for many things, one certainly being CBX. There are some decent selections at a few bars around town, but nothing compares to taking a fresh growler of COAST back to your hotel pool and cooling off from the intense Charleston heat & humidity.

Really great bottle shop that is well stocked with both beer and knowledgeable, friendly staff. I stopped in during a recent trip to Charleston and bought a bunch of beers that I can't get back home. Some of my favorite finds were: Tilquin gueuze, a couple Jolly Pumpkins, and a Rodenbach Caractere Rouge.

Fantastic selection, great staff, very good at what they do. A staple in the SC beer community and a must visit.

Charleston Beer Exchange is a tiny little shop on a side street that I nearly stumbled past until a friend pointed it out. The building looks like one of the first built in the city and a small square sign let's you know where you are. Although the store is small there's not a foot of wasted space. A shelf of NC/SC locals is the first to greet you as you enter. Past that is a small 5 or 6 tap growler station then the bank of coolers, 5 or 6 doors. The rest of Americas offerings are followed by Scandinavian, Belgian, German, English, and other imports in a small aisle.

As I said, there couldn't be better use of the space. The options are plentiful and the staff is quick to lend tips and thoughts, holding nothing back. The staff is helpful and fun to talk to. The prices are right in line with other places I stopped on my travels. The seasonal selection was stacked. I was very happy with my stop in, especially after hearing so much about them in the past, it lived up to expectations. Highly recommended.
