Bottle poured into my Chimay chalice.
A: Pours a murky light brown (maybe a tinge of Red/Burgandy) with a thin white head that dissipated quickly.
S: Big notes of dates, plums, and candied sugars. A hint of bisquit-yeastiness, too. I always loved the way this beer smelled.
T: Huge sweet notes of dates, prunes, and other candied sugars. The taste is lining up quite nicely with the nose, as there are notes of bisquits and breads underneath the sweetness. The hops are in the background, but working to keep the sweetness of this beer in check and and provide a good dry finish. This beer comes together nicely.
M: Light and lively with great carbonation, this beer finishes good and dry and leaves a sticky sweetness behind. In typical Trappist fashion, it creams up nicely and falls apart in the mouth if you allow it (although not to the same degree as Rochefort 10).
D/O: 10% ABV is completely hidden here (until it begins to work it's devilish magic, as this beer will "warm you up"). Wonderfully drinkable, and a great overall experience. One of, if not my fav, Trappist ale.

13oz draft pour at bier markt mississauga
a: deep orange/amber hue with half a finger of head
s: huge banana and vanilla up front. hints of maraschino cherries. alcohol is present
t: a melange of bananas, maraschino cherries, and vanilla to begin with. it's sweet all around but not offensively so. nice! but what i dislike here is the alcohol presence -- it's rather strong and makes the entire tasting feel medicinal. light spice on the back-end. dry finish
m: medium body, medium carbonation
o: this beer has a lovely aroma but the flavours are all ruined by the alcohol strength

Summer night in Sweden with a 750 ml bottle in the garden. This is love.
Do think the big bottle has much more taste and nose
If you want this and if you are in Scandinavia do make a stop in Denmark were the price is "very low" ~ 5 USD at most supermarkets.
