The colour is pale orange-gold; the liquid is hazy. The finger thick head slowly sinks down to a firm white layer, leaving some lacing.

The smell is fruity with yeasty flavours, sweet citric fruits (mandarins, bitter oranges) and a hint of bitterness.

The first flavours are citric (bitter oranges, lime), mixed herbs, plums and bakery yeast. Then, some notes of wheat flour, and sour flavours emerges. The aftertaste is mid-sourish with a fruity bitterness and hints of herbs.

The carbonation is overwhelming and – in my opinion – too strong even for a wit. The bubbles are medium sized.

I thought this beer was a little too discreet; I like a wit to be a rollercoaster of flavours!

On tap at BeerBistro. Pours a hazy yellow, thick white head forms, nice lacing on the glass, settles to a medium layer, good retention. Smell is quite light, some sourness, apples, banana and spice, wheat, some vanilla, very soft but the sourness is neat. Taste is similar, apples, banana, light sourness in the middle, yeast and wheat, oranges, almost winey character in the finish, a bit like a Berliner weiss due to the sourness. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. I generally don’t like witbiers, but the sour character on this one gave it a bit of edge over other examples of the style.

On-tap at The Farmhouse in Emmaus, PA for $8. Served in a large snifter, the wit is hazy straw yellow with a white head. The aroma is weak until the beer warms up, but when it does, the smell is akin to sticking your rose in a bunch of roses. It's almost bizarre how much this smells like flowers, down to the earthy (dirt) undertones. The flavor is a smooth, but too subtle, mix of soft wheat bread and soapy floral spice. Not my favorite white ale, but well-made and worth trying.

Pours a hazy lemon into a wine glass from a 330 ml. bottle. Offers a nice half inch cap of white foam, good retention and sticky lace.

Spicy wheat aroma with a bit of lemony hop, touch of graininess and clove spice. Somewhat light but well balanced and pleasant with a good yeast presence.

Taste of wheat with coriander and pepper and supported with a firm carbonation level. Notes of lemon return on the finish. Feel is spritzy and offers a hint of sweetness initially, segueing to a more bready lemon and spice feel. Overall a solid offering and quite drinkable, lacking a bit in depth only on the taste, but solid aroma and feel.

on tap at beerbistro as part of their koningshoeven trappist beer launch nov 27/07.

pours pale yellow with a bit of haze. the small dense white head lingers for a long time and leaves lots of lace as it falls.

aroma is nice. bit of alcohol. light caramel sweetness. bit of grain. nice spice - clove, orange peel. bit of pineapple. banana.

taste is good. very low bitterness. bit of alcohol. light clove. bready malt. pineapple and light tangerine. bit of caramel sweetness.

mouthfeel is good. low carbonation level. fairly light body. very smooth.

drinkability is good. well balanced and very smooth. i'd say it's less assertive than some wits, but it's not dull. very enjoyable brew.
