Superb. Great taste, goes down smoothly and very rich.
Tried it with a stake dinner, and it washed down amazingly. Tastes like a Leffe Brown, a bit heavy so you won't want to drink it for drinking (Like in a bar), you want it with dinner. Don't overdo it cause it fills you up, Just like a good Bock should.

Beer bottle (33 cl.) purchased from La Cervoiserie, and tasted in 2014.

Appearance : red amber color, with tan foamy head and nice lacing.
Smell : roasted malt aromas.
Taste & mouthfeel : sour malty flavor with a bitter and dry spicy finish.
Drinkability : a good beer in the style Dunkel bock.

Dark brown color with a big fluffy beige head that clings to the glass. Opaque so don't see alot of carbonation. I like how it's nowhere as clear as most filtered bock beers from big breweries.

Smell: rain on a lawn, something almost like big pool, hoppy with some slightly sweet notes. Don't get much malts at all.

Taste: sweet cherries at first, balanced with a nice bitterness. Some cookies that have been in the oven slightly too long. Then some more fruits, apples and strawberries. More cherries, almost candy-like, but the yeast, hops and a slightly almostt-burned touch keep it in check. Later some darker notes of dried plum and a touch of espresso

Mouth: medium does really coat the cheeks and has a fitting amount of carbonation. Nothing exceptional, but fits the beer well.

Overall: not a typical bock at all. The roasted malts are very different from most, and the cherry taste is very unusual. But, I really like this. Very interesting and balanced. La Trappe is the only trappist brewery who makes such a huge variety of beers. I think most of them are mediocre, and while is this not a perfect bock at all it's very interesting and really good in it's own way.
