appearance murky Brown with red hues when held towards the light.

Smell-big candied fruit alcohol laced FIGS
also cherry

taste-candy covered fruit,a litte bit of a whisky note. Hardly any alchohol taste. this was my first time with this batch...cola and whiskey come through- barley wine characteristic. I much prefer the earlier batch with the exception of the white wine batch

mouth feels slightly carbonated smooth.

overall batch 8 is a delicious all around beer not as sweet as other batches
Great beer

Batch 10 - 75% Malbec Wine Barrel 25% New Oak

Hazed ruby-brown colour, no head or lace at all. Smell is of red wine, oak, dark fruit, raisin and plums, vinious, rich malt and a bit of dark sugars, really nice nose on this. Taste is a bit of a let down compared to the nose but still quite nice, dark fruits, red wine and oak, yeast, plum and raisin with some dark bread, mild sweetness and some slight oxidization. Very light carbonation, medium-full body. This was quite tasty and the nose on this is incredible, would have liked more carbonation though, less carbonated than most of the style.

Batch 11. Pour a murky mahogany with just an off-white skim of a head. Nose expresses figs, plums, a sugary character and booze. Taste consistent with nose, with the addition of some toasted notes and a hint of tart cherries. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body, slightly still, with a light oiliness to the consistency; perhaps a bit thin for the style. Overall, another great La Trappe beer. Just wish it had a little more body.

Beer bottle batch#12 (37,5 cl.) purchased from La Cervoiserie, and tasted in 2014.

Appearance : red amber color with off white head (not persistent).
Smell : whiskey and fruit malty aromas.
Taste & mouthfeel : woody and caramel flavor, with warming alcohol presence.
Overall : a nice beer in the style Quadrupel.

The bottle states: 0:00 K24F13 BATCH 14

A: Hazy medium shade of dark brown beer, a lot like murky pond water (excuse the negative imagery). Very little white head that fades quickly. Decent lacing.

S: Alcohol right off the bat. A bit flowery smelling. Even with the strong alcohol, it has a very pleasant scent to it. It smells like a bag of dates before the nose is overwhelmed by the scent of alcohol.

T: Mellow alcohol flavor, with a sweetness like cotton candy. It's a very delicate and light beer. It's nice. The bottle says "Oak Aged Trappist Ale" however I do not notice any oak character. It's not very complex for a quad, and it is quite simple. It's enjoyable though.

M: The mouthfeel is perfect. It's nice and smooth with just the right carbonation, a nice clean finish that is refreshing.

O: Overall I'd say it's a very nice beer, just not an exceptional quad. It excels in simplicity and delicateness. The most prominent flavor is alcohol. Personally I would have liked a more complex and flavorful beer. For a beer with "oak" in the title, I would have liked some oak influence in the flavor and aroma. It's not something I would probably buy again, because it just wasn't memorable enough.
