A - poured a hazy copper gold, medium sized head that dissipated fairly quickly

S -Orange and slightly sweet malt and hops

T - Very smooth, strong florally hops, sweet malt and coriander. Very light in flavour

M - Light, highly carbonated, quite dry

O - As as the style goes, this wasn't bad at all. This is a light, dry, but very drinkable beer. A bit watery and light for my tastes, but not bad if this is what you're looking for.

33cl brown bottle w/ a freshness date.

Pale yellow, thin but sticky lace.

Fresh spicy hops, grassy, pale malt, hint of yeast, hop oil.

Mild crispness, clean graininess, herbal bite, spicy, dried hay, complex malt-hop finish.

So much flavor in this lager-like beer, hop complexities are epic. A truly amazing brew.

exp oct 2011

A: Thin sediment filled, golden, almost peachy in color, single finger head, single column of carbonation through the center.
S: Bready bakers yeast, malt in the German style, musty.
T: Very bitter hops, more subtle but slightly sweet German style malt, Heavier body than one would expect. Slightly musty
M: subtly astringent with a subtle sting. Has a somewhat creamy quality
O: Drinkable but a bit subpar. Not so interesting.

Poured from a 330 ml. bottle into a wine glass, showing mostly clear and deep straw in color. Touch of haze at first, a thin cap offers moderate retention and good lace.

Aroma of light pale malts and a bit of noble hops. Belgian yeast notes are rather subdued. Noted oddly as a 'Category II' bier on the label, not sure what that means as the Witte was 'Category I'. Does offer a slightly expanded yeast profile with warming, though still light.

Taste is more along the lines of a Pils beer with a light grainy finish, and a bit coarse and chalky/dry along the way. Finish does linger well for the light body of the beer, with some lemony citrus and expanding yeast notes. Feel is light but expected for the light ABV, and in fact fuller than the ABV might suggest. Finish is quite smooth and easy on the palate with pale lemony grain.

33 cl. bottle.
Organic unfiltered, clear ale with small floaty bits. Pale golden, with a white head, great lacing in the glass.

Smell is of grassy and floral hops.
Taste is of malts, but mainly bitterness of the hops. Actually not bad. Reminds a lot of pilsner, but with a more balanced lingering aftertaste.

I like this brew from La Trappe. It's very easy and accessable.

A: The beer is clear light yellow in color and has a low amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that quickly died down, leaving only a thin ring collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of herbal hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has flavors of spicy hops and a light amount of bitterness and hints of pale malts. Notes of yeast are also perceptible. Bitterness and spicy flavors linger through the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly dry on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer doesn't match up to some of the better examples of the style but is pretty good considering it is organic.

Tall thin 33cl brown bottle, best before Jan 2012, poured into an Augustijn chalice during Oct 2011.

No sediment in the glass, strange considering it is supposed to be an unfiltered trappist beer? Having said that the Lager looking brew did have some particals suspended within its body: it wasn't a clean, clear beer at all.

Golden, with a thin white head and thicker collar, almost Pilsner in looks, those aforementioned particals preventing the perfect Pilsner/Lager clearness.

The aroma given off was grassy/grainy and not very trappisty.

Pleasant enough, but not a great Belgian Pale Ale (well it is brewed in Holland): just seems like a run of the mill type of beer, a bit disappointed to be honest. My average scores could have been lower if I'd been in a bad mood!

Medium body depth and strenght, lacks that sparkle and interest to set it apart from the better brews within this style. Their own La Trappe Isid'or knocks spots off this for instance.

Drank from my Ciney sniffer

A - Pours a pale slightly cloudy straw colour with a nice white head that reduces to a lacing film.

S - Really nice aromas of hop and spices malts with yeast.

T - Up front some nice spice and hop followed by some spice and malt, the finish is a little watery.

M - light body with minimal carbonation, a little thin.

O - At 4.5% this is a very good beer with plenty of flavours. Perhaps a little thin.

Appearance: Slight haze due to the beer being unfiltered, smooth. Pours a nice head, but not a very thick one.

Aroma: Mild, slightly hoppy, floral.

Taste: Quite mellow and light. Hops are the predominant flavour, perhaps more so than in your typical trappist. Not very malty, more of floral flavours, and maybe a hint of citrus.

Mouthfeel: Nothing in particular to report, light and boring.

Overall: This organic unfiltered trappist beer by the only trappist brewery outside of Belgium is decent, but a bit light for my taste. I like the concept of making an organic trappist beer like this, but it might’ve been better as a double. Probably not worth going out of your way to try this, but it was a pleasant enough beer to drink on its own. I recently had the La Trappe Witte as well, which is also rather light and pleasant.

On tap at the abbey cafe during last week's trip to Belgium. Reviewed from notes.

Served in a Puur pilsner glass.

Pours a clear straw color with a big sticky white head and an abundance of lacing. The nose brings forward light floral hops along with a bit of straw and grain. Flavor is a bit grainy but with a pronounced Noble hop character. Light body with crisp carbonation and moderate bitterness. Quite tasty and refreshing.

Appearance: Light gold color, cloudy; thin white head that quickly dissipates.
Smell: Floral, like a Belgian white but on the lighter side; some hops.
Taste: Citrus / floral with a delicate bitterness, mostly towards the end. Hints of pepper.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body; light to medium carbonation.
Drinkability: An interesting ale (“light” as compared to the rest of the La Trappe family) that could easily make for a good quality session beer, without causing too much excitement.

Frothy white head. Leaves good lace on the glass. Crystal clear, straw color.

Grassy and slightly skunked. Some soured grain smells.

Tastes like a wheat beer with a touch of an alcohol kick. Might be better with a lemon. Slightly thin body with a higher than anticipated carbonation. It is a refreshing beer for a hot day.

Pours a hazy golden color with a medium thickness white head that fades down rather quickly. Carbonation seems very active.

Smell is floral, yeasty, spicey, earthy

Taste is hoppy with a nice earthy bite, dry and spicey. Some lemon zest. Very tasty and refreshing. I like it!
