I'm quite happy that this store is a short walk from my house. It's a high end store with a focus on gourmet foods (cheeses, etc), wines, and to a lesser extent beer. Their beer section is small, but packed with beers of good to excellent quality and featuring some rotation of their limited shelf space. They do a good job of being up to date on locals like Pretty Things, and buzz worthy national releases like the debut of Sierra Nevada's Torpedo. They stock domestic micros, Czech, German, Belgian and even Armenian beers. However, they don't always stock the big names, and I find myself going elsewhere for my regularly scheduled Stone seasonal, Cantillon, Brooklyn, and Smuttynose Big Beer purchases.

The Spirited Gourmet hosts beer tastings most Friday nights, and wine tastings most Saturdays. These are definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood. Their staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, as they demonstrate both during tastings and when customers just poke around the store.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you...Belmont's first-ever beer and wine store!

This is a large store with about 55% dedicated to wine and spirits, 20% dedicated to food (gourmet snacks and cheeses) and the remaining 25% (did that add up) to beer. Mostly the cooler wall on the right and a couple of shelves. The selection they have is not the largest but there's a decent variety of very good craft...local offerings (Smutty, Berkshire), quite a few German and Belgian bottles and a few favorites from other regions of the country (Stone, Rogue, Dogfish Head). The staff is very friendly and helpful - the store is very clean and well-presented. On top of that, prices for most offerings are very good - Celebration in the $8 range for a 6-pack is a good thing to see. The space they have for their beer they've made very good use of. It's good to have a place like this in the neighborhood.
