A hardcore thing; this beer is strong , with character, broiled hops and phenolic in its smell; malty and rounded mouthfeel;

Good for the mexican spicy food;

Reminiscenses of the Nochebuena beer;

this beer is exceptional, 95% recommended.

Serve in a weizen glass.

I been a big fan of belgian style beers and I'm very disappointed of the average Mexican beers but this one is really a hit.
Amber caramel, Head not as expected it goes fast and just left traces.
Excellent aroma some hops, the malta is more than evident and maybe coffe.
Sweet beginning and bitternes with alcohol taste at the very ending.
very recommendable.

Served in the restaurant La Biznaga in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca, Mexico. Poured form a bottle into an appropriate glass.

A- The bottle had the style, alcohol, serving temp and best by date on it as well as a friendly reminder that is had "doble malta". Poured looking like an authentic German Altbier. Dark amber in color and crystal clear with an off-white rich head and lingered and left trace lacing.

S- The smell was complex starting with an abundance of malty aromas accompanied by subtle yeasty notes followed by toasted bread crust. Very aromatic!

T- Uber malty! Rich and smooth malt profile that was cut through by the carbonation. Bready flavors were noticed first with plenty of caramel lasting the whole sip. Hop profile was nothing special but appropriately bitter for the style.

M- Once again, thick and smooth with just enough mild carbonation to balance.

D- Very drinkable and went extremely well with mole coloradito con pollo. This was such a pleasant surprise to find in Mexico where 90% of the beers are mass produced lagers. I will be searching this one out here in the states. If you are able to find this rare ale, treat yourself. You will not be disapointed.

"Altbier + Imperial " DoOble punch! Great flavor, good balance in taste and alcohol... Eyes [ Caramel dark color, the head is small, a little carbonation good for this beer style ] Mouth [The flavor is strong but gentile, good character, little bitter and good body] Nouse [ hops, floral, toasted malty and sugar in deep... ] Good for the "sibaritas" mexican beer lovers! Tnx Primus! this beer is exceptional, 95% recommended. Serve in a weizen glass. Serving type: bottle

Mexican craft beer made by Andreu Primus,

A: Once served in a weissbier mug seems like cold coffee, very dark brown, almost black, no foamy head, just a few white burrs on the surface;

S: Very malty and dark fruits, figs, pitted prunes;

T: Very good, a complex blend of roasted malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate and raisins;

M: Mildly bitter and dry, robust body, leaves you a coffee flavor in the mouth, i liked the way that hides the ABV;

D: Very good craft beer, if not for the appearance i would give a better qualification.

Bought as a bottle, served in a long glass (as Altbiers should be served).

A - Nice chocolate brown color, yellowish head that sadly did not last very long.

S- Great complex smell, coffee, caramel, yeast, some hops.

T - Malty roasted flavor with strong hints of coffee and a caramel finish.

M - As others have said, it feels very viscous, strong and complex, not much CO2. Very pleasant.

D - Very small hint of ethanol, definitely could drink two or three consecutive beers. After drinking 75% of the beer you start to feel the 7% of ABV, warming.

Imperial Altbier?? This beer has double malts and the label says so... and it tastes good man!!

Boasts a beautiful dark brown color, with a yellowish head with a decent life. Pours slightly oily...not like motor oil, but maybe vegetable oil. That's good.

Smells of hops and a pinch of some earthy aromas. Smell is a bit soft to be honest, I expected more.

Redeems with the taste! Nice, mild sweetness, hop acidity and some pleasant alcohol warmth. It has that "aged taste" in it, kinda bit woody. Very cool.

Beautiful medium to thick mouthfeel. Feels very cool.

It's quite drinkable for being a strong beer. It's on the sipper side, you wanna drink it slowly. Dont' pair with chocolate, I tried and they just don't go along.

Otherwise a great beer - I recommend it.

Appearance- Pours brilliant, pale amber with deep orange highlights. Soapy off-white head rises and quickly falls with big bubbles rising from the glass.

Aroma- Caramel malt with faint notes of raisin, light brown sugar, and herbal hops.

Flavor- Starts very similar to aroma and flavors intensify into a nicely balanced malty sweet and earthy hop spice middle. Almost has a pumpernickel breadiness in finish with the confluence of the caramel/raisin malt and moderate-high bitter hop spice. No indication of 7% strength in flavor! Nice lingering herbal hop flavor.

Mouthfeel- Medium to full bodied with some throat warming alcohol. Nice balance but leaning towards hop bitterness- fairly clean with low residual sugars. Moderate CO2 levels.

Overall- Very nice beer that does well for the style in terms of balance! Nice backing malt flavors without overwhelming the delicate herbal hop flavor and bitterness. 7% ABV is well hidden in this brew- so well that it could be a trouble maker! I think I'll have another!

A perfect combination of Altbier with the imperial accolade of high alcohol contenet from Cerveceria Primus in Mexico City brewed by the Andreu Cousins.

Color: Deep amber copper redish with medium head formation and medium lace retention. Pours very good in the glass.

Aroma: Great aromas of sweet malts, coffee, fresh yeast and hops.

Taste: Chocolate, roasted coffee, sweet malts and great balance of hops. Very nice amount of alcohol.

Finish: Dry finish with bitter aftertaste and sweet chocolate at the very end. Very nice beer.

A: Beautiful intense amber color with a lot of hues when against light from a clear dark yellow to a soft reddish, a little head that lets a thin layer when dissipated with a light beige color.

S: Toasted malt aroma with some caramel.

T: Intense malty flavor very direct but very strong some sweetness really faint.

M: Nice sensation, refreshing but not simple, a little sweetness that change to a little bittersweet with time with a some hops ending.
