Prices are a bit higher than some of the other places around town. Selection is nothing special. I guess I just really enjoy Joel, pointing me to what they got in this week. First place I was able to get Pliny the Elder and The Abyss. Little bit jacked up prices but usually a helpful staff, if you know what you’re looking for.

Had the pleasure of shopping the beer selection of this whole foods while I was visiting my cousin.

they have a very good selection of beers that I don't see on the east coast, deschutes was my favorite brewery that i tried from the 3-4 i sampled for the first time. the beers are fresh and the they seemed to get a shipment in between the 2 visits that I made.

i would not have actually expected to get any service in a place like whole foods in the beer department, but an employee did come over and ask if I needed help, when i explained I was from the east coast and wanted to try some beers I could not get back home he suggested a few west coast breweries all of which i liked.

Stopped in at the Roosevelt Whole Foods this evening to pick up some beer for poker night.

As you might expect from an upscale place like Whole Foods, the beer selection is pretty good. There were no domestic macros at all and the emphasis was mostly on local and regional craft beers rather than on imports (though there was a pretty decent selection of these as well). The beer area was about the size of the beer section of a typical grocery store; it was just all craft.

There happened to be a beer person restocking while I was there, though in the past I haven't seen any beer steward or anything on staff. Perhaps I just got lucky, but I thought service was pretty good. Pricing was actually pretty reasonable as well.

This may be the only WF that I haven't visited in Seattle so I decided to stop in this visit.

It's a pretty typical Seattle Whole Foods in that they have a large selection of good beer and most are stored cold. I think the West Lake location does a little better but this one is still solid. They have lots of northwest and west coast beers along with a fair number from the rest of the US and Europe. I was looking for some RR and unfortunately didn't find any.

I find WF to be a reliable option in the Seattle area. They aren't as good as some of the specialty beer stores but they aren't far off and are very convenient.

I generally expect whole foods stores to have a good selection. They have a great selection of west coast chilled 22s and six packs/four packs (many that are also priced for individual sale) and some older vintage barleywines from seattle brewers, some df head and other beers from the rest of the us. They also had a reasonable selection of chilled imported beers (the normal trappists, an impressive de dolle lineup, nogne-o).

But i think the best part is the non-chilled wall next to the wine. Here they have a nice selection of belgians (including at least a couple sours, nothing too epic but something is regularly there, boulevard, lost abbey/port, hair of the dog and other great stuff.

EDIT: They have since removed this wall. This significantly hurt the selection.

The pricing is totally reasonable.

A very excellent in-grocery store beer selection. They have, from my perspective, three main sections: the cooler with sixers, singles, and many bombers; the shelved selection of nice belgians and harder to find American craft beers; and a narrow shelf full of hard to find, high alcohol beers.

The dude in charge obviously loves his job. He is always willing to provide input and guidance and will point you in the right direction. He seems to make it a point to get one-off beers and specialties. That said, you may want to go often to check their selection as it changes, probably, daily.

There is a lack of English beers but certainly make up for it with a nice selection of Germans, Belgians, and lots of local Pac NW beers (also other regional favorites). I've been to the store probably 20 times since August and I am always finding stuff I didn't see the last time. Only micros include Rolling Rock and Negra...could be worse.

The price is average...not much higher or less than other area stores.

For grocery store selection, this is really top notch. Between WF and QFC U-Village, you can't go wrong.
