What can I say about this place. Every time I come into town this is the place I always end up at least once. I love their beer, I have tried a number of them and have suffered the consequences, but you know it was worth it. They has such great beers from the Shiva to the Ninja and I have tried a few others in between. They also have a great selection of the harder stuff if you are so inclined and the pizza is some of the best around. They also have a t.vs everywhere a great milieu in general. I love the poppers too! I could rave on about this place for days but I will end here. Any one who hasn't been, go! They have some of the best in house brews in a town known for great beer!

Great atmosphere! Keep in mind its Asheville so don't expect speedy service. Beers are decent. Pizza is awesome as well as most of the options on the menu. All around its worth trying. The location on Merrimon Ave has $3 movies where you can order food/beer in the theater(=awsome). They also have a kids theater that plays cartoons and has arcade games and picnic tables/booths for when mom and dad needs a beer and kid needs to run around. Has outdoor seating as well to enjoy great Asheville weather. Best pizza in Asheville by far.

Coming here on the way to zip lining, it was tucked behind another business (maybe a fast food chicken chain?) and looked like a farmhouse. Bright blue with 2 silos on the outside, it didn't resemble a brewery until parking (and don't mind the spaceship that looks like it came down and struck the building!). Lets walk in and break this place down by each category.

Walking in, each silo was filled with tables. The one by the bar (where I sat) had a moon on the wall and then a crest of some sort hanging from the ceiling. Very random but cool. The bar looked like a Pipe Works game as it was painted behind the row of tap handles. Whoever was the artist here (for both the brewery AND tap handles/bottles/cans is very talented! Tons of color and detail pop out.

While waiting for my pizza, enjoyed the Red Light IPA and chatted with the bartender. Very friendly and suggested what other breweries I got to on my trip (cool they promote other local breweries).

Their selection was very nice on-tap but had to block out what they had in bottle... Coors, A.B., and Corona were all hanging out on the side of the bar and ruining it for me. One of the servers caught that I was looking at these and replied "it hurts me too".

We enjoyed the Biltmore Pizza and suggest you do the same! Tons of Green Peppers, Banana Peppers, White Onion, and Pepperoni filled this Hand Tossed pizza and enjoyed it with their home-made garlic sauce. MMM!!

With Asheville, NC being the "Beer Capital" of the Nation, I think they should receive the award of Pizza Capital as well! I suggest this place plus many others I've already visited in the area.

This is not just a brewpub, but another one of those quirky places here in Asheville. There's a lot of dedication to movies evident in the decor. There's also a ticket booth where tickets can be purchased for $3 for the daily movie, of which there are two that each show twice (a kids' movie at 1 and 4 pm and another at 7 and 10 pm). The beer is good, as is the food. The pizza is obviously the specialty in terms of food, but the real focus is their beers. When I went last night, there were 8 taps of their own with about 5 guest taps. They also sell a few bottles, but as far as I could tell only 750s of their own stuff, and only a few were available. They do, of course, also fill growlers, and they also sell growlers already filled. Our bartender was very attentive. There are three TVs above the bar, 2 turned to sporting events and one set to a different show, none of which had the volume turned up. I really enjoyed this place; they obviously cared about the beer they brew, the bartender gave very good service, it wasn't too loud, and the food is good. A great place to go in Asheville for a cheap movie (as long as it's one you'd liek to see), good pizza and good beer.

This place was awesome!

The only negative thing I can say was the fact that the bartender in the main room kinda ignored me for the most part. However, the atmosphere here was excellent. It really summed up what Asheville is all about a good time and some good beer. The bar has a single screen movie theater in the back and the night I was there they were showing Pink FLoyd's The Wall which I must admit has influenced my review of the atmosphere. Any bar that A. has a movie theater and B. Plays Pink Floyd's The Wall automatically receives a 5. The service at the theater bar was much better than the main room. The beer there was good but not great. Their Roland's ESB in the best of the bunch. Their food was pretty decent overall. Their pizza was very good but other items seem to be lacking somewhat. The price is very reasonable and it is definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. However, I have noticed that they have started showing more current movies rather than cult classics which is what I like most about the place.

This is a funky little joint a few minutes from downtown. Up front is a pizza joint and bar with a decent selection of their own beers. In the back is a functioning movie theater!

I was a bit disappointed when I was there ... my top two choices (Ninja Porter and Shiva IPA) were both out. I ended up having the ESB (nice, middle of the road amber ale) while the wife had their "ESP" (extra special pale ale) which was basically the ESB with an extra dose of hops.

The pizza was excellent, the onion rings ok (I favor the really thin ones with a little breading ... these were thick with heavy batter). Definitely worth seeking out this place.

I normally dont venture into this area of town so I was a bit unfamiliar with the surroundings so I drove right past this place and had to do a u-turn to get into the parking lot. It snuck up on me for sure. I chose the bar area to the right and bellied up to "That 70's show" and ESPN.

Had the Shiva IPA and it was pretty good. Not too bitter but very well balanced. For food I had a chicken salad and it was really good and fresh. I was expecially hungry so I really devoured every morsel of the salad.

Service was prompt and courteous but the outdoor area seemed to be a bit more busy and some of the patrons were coming inside to order beers.

They had about 11 beers on draft, 8 house beers as well as Guinness, Pisgah, and French Broad. The bottled beer selection was less than stellar with Chimay being about the only craft beer.

The beer was fresh and the food was fresh as well. Growlers were $13.50 ($9.50 for the fill) which is really reasonable. A bit out of the way as this is on the north side, but worth the five minute drive.

We checked this place out after reading a couple of reviews on BA and we were glad we did. Asheville Pizza and Brewing co. is a little bit off of the beaten path in Asheville; That is, closer to where the university students hang out and a little distance from the actual down town scene. The building is a little hard to find since the road in that area has a lot of traffic and unexpected turn lanes.

The atmosphere inside is good, being themed after some old sci-fi movies. We sat at the table with all of the star wars stuff lacquered on to the table. There are two movie theaters in the building and a lot of locals if you are interested more in conversation. There is no smoking inside.

Apparently, they have several of the standard good beers, but we never found out because when we asked for a beer list all we got was a list of the Asheville Brewing beers that they offered. I tried their Shiva IPA which, although not the best IPA I've had, was not the worst.

The pizza was delicious. The salad was huge (we split a large one) and the service was good. All in all a very nice place to relax and hang with the locals. Just remember to ask for both beer lists ;)

While on vacation over the summer, my wife and I signed up for the Brew Cruise out of Asheville (it was an unbelievable time, I highly recommend it). The tour group met here in the afternoon, and finished here once the tour was done. Most of us had already had a few beers in us at this time, but the best was truly saved for last. The food here was very good (and there was plenty of it), and the atmosphere was very laid back and friendly. The decor was very interesting, the wall behind the table where my wife and I sat was painted to look like the cantina from Star Wars IV...very awesome.

The beer was very good, the only problem was there wasn't enough of it...literally. The hop shortage was affecting this place particularly hard since several of their brews rely heavily on hops. As a result, they only had 3 of the 5 brews available for sample/purchase. They did, however, make up for that by giving us more samples of the beer they did have available. Their idea of a sample was a pitcher per table of 4...and you never saw the bottom of that pitcher! The most memorable beer was their standard IPA, which had strong flavor with a nice clean finish.

The family and I ate lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. As we walked inside it said to seat yourself, OK, I like this type of casual freedom but it also opens up the door for sitting around with nobody knowing you are there! So we sat and sat at least 10 minutes, so i went to the bar to ask for menus and I was told I should have a server, I was nice and didn't start whining about sitting around for 10 minutes with nobody coming to our table.
we got some menus, ordered some brews and got some pizza. The Scottish ale was very nice, and our pizza was delicious. Very good service once we got noticed. I noticed they also had local brews on tap and I got the French Broad Rye Hopper-excellent! The decor is very neat with tons of movie poster tiles and our table was a James Bond themed table with tons of pics, and mini movie poster images that were permanently sealed withthin the table top. The round area we sat in also had a neat hand painted wall of library books with classics and other eclectic titles represented. The have a ceiling wall area near the restrooms with several hundred remote controls permanently fixed to them-cool!
I will return here in the future.

Good place to go with the kids during the day. The atmosphere does change a bit after the sun goes down. Usually showing 2 movies, one for the kids and one for the grown-ups. Good variety of apps and sandwiches, plus the pizza. Good Asheville crowd here. Beer is not bad, but perhaps not as good as it used to be. Still very much worth a stop, with the Scottish, Shiva, and Scout all good. Can get crowded on the weekends and the staff can have a hard time keeping up with the flow. Try the hummus app, very good and very filling!

First, the brews from this brewpub in Asheville are exellent, tried three and all were very impressive.

The atmosphere on the other hand was not, no character to the pub at all, flat, bland.

Did I happen to mention how good the beer was? ...exellent.

What can I tell ya? Offers so much promise but no help seems to be forthcoming

Did not try the food but it looked good and offered at a reasonable price.

If going just for the brew, you will not be disappoined....but not a place to hang with friends.

Six, maybe seven homegrown selections.

The meeting/ending place for Asheville Bruise Cruise if you're doing a normal tour. A pretty hopping place. They have movies, descent beer, a massive game room ,and good prices. So that means a good place for the locals the bring the kids. Big drawback for me. with that said the service is always great, and the beer isn't bad. I really enjoy the Scout Stout, and the Shiva IPA. The pizza is pretty good. They tout it as the best in WNC, and some of the top in the nation. I wouldn't got that far, but it's good. The vibe is ok. It can be really obnoxious and loud at times.

Stopped in for a beer and some pizza after 10 hours on the road. The place is hard to pigeon hole. Movies are the big theme, with an actual theater in the building. We took a table to the left of the enterence in the 'library,' book shelves and various volumes painted on the round walls. Many classics were represented along with what looked to be titles made up by employees.

Most of the crowd appeared to be students from UNC-Asheville but one couple could have been professors.

Ordered the Shiva IPA and a pizza while the young 'un went to the game room with a bunch of quarters. Mrs. Kdog had the Looking Glass.

Excellent pizza, excellent beer and plenty of things to look at. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Pay attention when heading to the restrooms, though. The men's has Holly Hunter on the door while the women's has Nicholas Cage.

I'm planning on returning to Asheville in the fall and this will be on my list of places to go. I'll have to to refill my growler.

A really fun place to go -- especially on a nice autumn day. Their house brews are good, even if they're not great. Don't look for anything too exotic -- or life-changing -- on offer, but they produce some solid American micro-style classics (the Porter is my standby favorite).

Their pizza is very good as well, and pairs nicely with their pints. And, it's a movie house -- what's not to love? Good micro beer, great freshly-made pizza, and big-screen movies, without worrying about getting sauce or stains on your sofa. Check them out if you've got a couple of days in Asheville -- or if you're looking for a good Saturday outing.
