This Year's release from the Miabock fest. Weird Beard is about 2 feet tall, and a quick little SOB. Good times today that match a good beer

Got a full growler right after we sampled from the intial tapping after the race on 5/2/04. Pours a rich amber color, with a bubbly, bone colored head, that leaves extensive lacing.

Spicey sweet smell, with earthy tones, with a nice, rich texture upon any tasting

Taste is with hints of honey, and a nice, dry, and slightly bitter finish and after taste. The malt flavor is the dominat charecter, but everything else is present, and mixed nicely together. These flavors mix very nicely with each other, making this a rather well-crafted beer

I wish this was a regular release becuase this really is a highly drinkable brew, that goes with any occasion. Well Done, and congrats to weird beard!

Weird Beard is a solid, take-no-prisoners bock that combines an aggressive, deeply-toasty-almost-bordering-on-roasty Munich-style maltiness with a solid bitterness and bright hop flavor. It's color is a bit edgy for a Maibock as well, with a clear but very deep copper that reveals bronze and auburn highlights when held to the light. The creamy off-white head holds well and leaves splashes of lace here and there throughout the glass. The nose is surprisingly clean and restrained considering the richness of the flavor; and it bombards the tongue with a brilliant combination of deeply toasted malt, spicy and floral hops, and a healthy dose of alcohol and subtle note of yeasty fruitiness. It finishes dry with a flourish of hop spice and a quick wash of alcohol backed by some lingering bitterness and a touch of deep, almost roasted, maltiness. It's almost like the base for a Bamberg-style rauchbier with the exception that it has an increased bitterness and no smokiness. Hmmm.... As impressive as it is, however, it's much like a slap in the face... one snaps you to attention and brings your senses to their fullest height, but two or more starts to numb you. Some warming and a softer carbonation, however, mellows it a touch - so go easy and let that pint settle a bit! The Weird Beard (named for the goat that won the goat race in 2004) is a bright and exciting offering that's well worth trying. Get it now ' cause next year's will probably be different.

It is a clear dark gold color with not much of a head. The aroma is almost not present. There is a touch of malt in the nose, but it is mostly clean. The full body is malty sweet with some apple notes. It is smooth with a clean finish and some warming alcohol present. There is not much hops or bitterness, but just enough to balance this good tasting beer.

Bronze in color with a one finger head. Light lacing develops. The aroma is of malt. The flavor kicks butt - huge malt base with caramel and honey. I thought I sensed some hidden raisin flavor here also, but I'm not sure. Alcohol tones round out the flavor.

This is medium bodied but thick on the tongue. Very smooth mouthfeel with a dry caramel and malt finish. Very drinkable - as I usually do not have more than one maibock at a sitting, but this was very enjoyable and I could have had several.
