taster flight at Sly Fox. Golden pour, small, sturdy head. Nice and crisp, citrusy hops, nice chewy body. Smooth, slick and delicious. Very good outing from Sly Fox.

A bright copper-amber brew with a modest, yet enduring head, came in a clear pint glass. It was drawn off of a tap here at Fergie’s. It's rather translucent, but little has that to do with the overall. Next to last in importance is smell. Too bad for Odyssey, since this smells great. There's a little malt, a little yeast, a little alcohol and a bouquet of sharp piney hops. That's pretty much the way the taste goes. Of course, the bittering hops take over during the finish, but this is one fine uniformed drinking IIPA. Sharp bitter hops in a slightly malty sweet medium, this is not only nails the style, it excells within it. Detrimentally, it runs a little sweet, but that's common with this style. The mouthfeel isn't stoutlike, but the style isn't renowned for that aspect. Overall, this is a very good rendition of its style.

Can to tulip, the appearance was a burnt glowing copper color with a slipping foamy white head that left some messy concave lace.
The aroma had the orange marmalade I usually get in PA DIPA's glossing over some sweet mango to grapefruit pulpy thing going on. Malt seemed decent, mostly clean.
The flavor was moderately sweet with a dryness coming about deflecting some bitterness. Aftertaste sharpened some of the grassiness coming about.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied, it did seem to bring in some dryness over my tongue and bring about some stickiness in the finish. Carbonation seemed just a touch under. ABV did feel spot on.
Overall, decent DIPA, maybe again.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish tulip

L: Clear golden copper pour. Thick foamy off-white head. Great lacing.

S: Malts and grains. Citrus and pine.. thyme.

T/F: This one is kind of a malt bomb. Sweet grains and malts. The hop profile feels muted... notes of citrus... a bit of resin, but more sweet malts, honey, and alcohol. Cleans up a little at the finish, but overall lacking in bitterness and hop character. Medium to thick in body. Well carbonated.

O: Unbalanced in favor of malt and honey sweetness. Not bad per se, but not what I'm looking for in an IIPA. Another Sly Fox beer that doesn't stack up.

$ 2.31 (Including Beer Club discount and tax)/12 oz can ($ 0.193/oz) at State Line Liquors, Elkton, MD.
BB 05/21/17 (Can bottom) at 42 degrees served into a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – pine and citrus.
Head large (Maximum 6.4 cm, aggressive pour), off white, semi-dense, frothy, average retention, diminishing to an irregular tree to five mm frothy ring with drag marks and partial rings of lacing. Several small rocky islands make up the partial layer.
Lacing – fair. Some partial rings, drag marks, and small islands, all with tiny to medium bubbles.
Body – orange, very slight haze.
Flavor – begins moderately bitter with a hint of malt and an oily citrus aftertaste. No alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate – medium, oily, soft carbonation.

Not really liking this. Route 113 is a much better example of what Sly Fox can do with IPAs.

Appearance 4, Aroma 4, Flavor 3, Palate 3.25, Overall 3.
