8/12...pours very light gold, active bubbles, low foam. Bright citrus floral nose. Chalky helles nose. Clean taste, bitter outline, full of flavor. Clean fast finish. Light and flavorful.

12 oz can

Pours a light straw gold, slight haze, with a quarter inch of sugar white head. Dissipates to a film.

Smells of barley malt, sugar, and citrus.

Sugar sweet barley malt flavor with hints of citrus and grassy malt.

Light body with a stinging carbonation on the tongue.

Fairly decent lager, light and sweet. Very sessionable. This is pretty similar to their Pikeland Pils, but this one is sweeter, thinner, and less hoppy. For those reasons Pikeland is the better beer and more enjoyable. This is average by comparison, although not bad and certainly drinkable. Just not the best of Sly's lighter lagers.

was looking for the 360 top can. couldn't find it but regardless found the beer. pours light yellow finger of pillowy head. smell is subtle yeast. and hops. sweet at first then the hoppy bite but not bitter. very clean and crisp. would buy again although the carbonation was very high and caused painful burps haha.

Poured from a 12 oz can. Best by date Jan 25, 2015.

Yellow in color with outstanding clarity. Medium fluffy white head. Sweet malty aroma that reminds me of a German pilsner with less hop presence. The sweetness continues in the flavor, which brings out a slight spice from the noble hops. Perfectly carbonated, medium bodied, clean and smooth. Everything a Helles lager should be.

In lieu of putting their own spin on this beer, it's clear the brewer wanted to stay true to the style and they absolutely nailed it. Why there aren't more American versions of Helles is beyond me. This is not only an outstanding version of the style, but for $7.89 / six-pack it is also a great value. Recommended to anyone looking for a clean lager with some character.

Can at Whole Foods in Alexandria, VA.

Golden / bronze body. Clear with a small white cap. Aromas of pils malt, a hint of sweet, fruity notes. Grain and bread with distant floral notes and a clean feel. Easy to drink. Not too sweet. Light Saaz hop character. Solid.

I wish BA made it easier to compare one's past reviews of same style in order to be "fair". This is one of the best, freshest, most refreshing, USA Helles I have tried, along with Carton "This Town". While perfected in Germany, for freshness best to drink Helles local.

A: Pours a bright golden color with a slight haze. White, bright, pinpoint head leaves some lace. Retention is good.

S: Lemony bread, biscuit, crackers, floral, grassy hops. Pilsner malt is apparent, with a strong, excellent aroma.

T: Follows smell .Lemon cake pilsner malts, bread and more citrus rind, followed by subtle, herbal, spicy, leafy, hops. Plenty of long, dry refreshing feel in the finish.

F: Light bodied, well carbonated. Great mouth feel.

O: A refreshing fresh, aromatic Helles. One of the best in US.

Opened and drank directly from the 360 top can...which by the way is a terrific invention.

A: From what I can see, it is a clear straw light golden color. Can't speak of head or lacing, but carbonation looks to be nice.

S: Lots of bready malts and biscuit smells with some grassy herbal hops. I can smell the cleanliness of the beer.

T: Starts off slightly sweet with the bready and biscuit malt. That mixes with lots of grassy and straw flavors as well as some lemon and apple. The slight sweetness of the malt gets beaten down on the finish as it turns very crisp and clean with herbal notes and slight bitterness. Finish is very crisp and clean and dry. Great summer beer.

M: Perfect balance of malt and hops with terrific carbonation and a nice medium body to it. Finish is crisp and clean with no alcohol.

O: A really nice Helles Lager that ranks up there with the best. This is a terrific summer brew that I will have stocked in my fridge all summer long.

For those that get a chance, please try the new 360 top and drink it right from the can. That invention is fantastic as you really get the full effect of the nose with the entire lid off, but the convenience of a can! These are the PERFECT summer beer for whatever reason, beach, lawn, porch, whatever. Love them.

Thank you Slatetank for gifting me with a can of this. 12oz can with that nifty opener that lifts the entire top off becoming it's own glassware. Poured it anyway into a standard pint. The brew appears a clear straw yellow color with a white finger supported by rising bubbles. It leaves some spotty lacing on the glass.

The nose contains notes of straw grain that is sweet and lightly buttery with a hint of sulfur and floral/fruity notes that seem to come from a more alcohol driven character than hops.

The taste is buttery and sweet like caramel with a grassy herbal contrast. It is fruity into the aftertaste with a mild alcohol ester just like the nose suggests.

This is a medium bodied brew with s modest amount of carbonation. It is crisp and easy drinking. It plays the part of the style well. If this was a style I got thirsty for, id reach for it again.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Becker glass. Best by 7/24/2014 stamped on the bottom of the can. Moderate hand.

A: Pale, golden yellow body with ok clarity. 1.5 fingers of sudsy, white head. Good retention. Light lacing.

S: Noble hops and grass. Lightly floral notes. Pale malt, cracker. Faint biscuit. Somewhat sweeter than expected.

T: A bit atypical as the hop bitterness hits first, followed by the swell of pale malt sweetness and some essence of corn. The hops reappear late for a semi-dry finish. No alcohol presence.

M: Moderate carbonation. Body is a bit heavier than average for the style.

O: Average outing for the style from an American brewery. A bit sweet and more corn than I'd prefer, but it's aight.

Pours a transparent golden body with a pure white head quickly dissolving to leave almost no trace of lacing as the lively carbonation dances to the top of the glass.

The aroma offers plenty of German Pils, a touch of herbal hops and just plain freshness.

That German Pils strikes the palate immediately with subdued herbal hops and perhaps just a touch of spiced malt.

A clean, crisp, fresh body with generous carbonation and a drying finish.

A plain good beer, pretty traditional German Helles - perfectly clean.

A: An alluringly bright gold color.

S: Pleasantly sweet grains. Freshly shelled wheat husks. No grassiness nor subtle spicing can be detected.

M: Medium bodied and smooth. Not as a crisp finish as desired. Only semi-dry, and left with a wet palate. Breadiness pervades.

T: Honeysuckle. Very clean tasting malt forward beer. Needs more hop bitterness to tidy up the malt sweetness.

O: Definitely showcases the German malts nicely, but at the expense of any noticeable contribution from the Czech pilsen hops.

Serving Type - Can

Appearance - Light straw yellow with a white, foamy 1 inch head. Decent lacing.

Smell - Nice mix of malts with some spices, added sugars and some minor fruit notes. Lemon, some grain and a little caramel note at the finish.

Taste - Starts off with light, clean and crisp malts, some lemon and grassy flavor. Orange, some pineapple and grapefruit are also present. Bready, some caramel and spices show up near the finish.

Mouthfeel - Light and crisp, malts and some fruits coat the tongue. Palate picks up more malts, lemon and grassy notes. Aftertaste is light, lemon and malts.

Overall - Average. Really light and easy to drink. Nothing special and the flavors are very light. Its fine for a summertime beer to pound away at but nothing id take over a lot of other summertime beers.

Poured into a Sam Adams glass, developed a nice, bubbly white head with some retention and minimal lacing. Aroma had notes of yeast and grain. Appearance was a golden straw with some clouding. Tasted light with mild grain and grass notes, some hoppy bite on the back. Mouthfeel was light with a mild and clean aftertaste.

This golden lager is very light and easy to drink. I enjoy this beer very much. The German pips malt really stands out in the taste. And the hallertauer hops are the perfect choice to put a hint of bitterness in the after taste. I would recommend this beer for a tailgate or on the beach.

Poured from 12 oz can into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass. Best by 04/22/14 on bottom of can. Purchased at Kroger (Charlottesville, VA).

A: Beautiful clear straw-gold with ample 1-finger white big-bubbled head with decente retention and a nice cap of lacing.

S: Plenty of Munich and pilsner malt graininess with a good balance of grassy, noble hoppiness.

T: Clean with only a slight minerally bit in the aftertaste. Otherwise is straight grainy maltiness with a light hand of noble hopping. Really a fine tasting helles lager for sure. If they could punch out the light sulfur-aspirin-mineral character in the finish, this would be a definite summer go to brew. Still, this is an excellent, clean lager with no other faults.

M: Very crisp and easy to drink with a fairly light-handed carbonation to enhance the light-medium body and mouthfeel.

O: Sly Fox Golden Lager is a stellar lager with just the right mix of pilsner and Munich graininess with noble hopping -- they have made an outstanding brew here.

A: Straw golden with a fluffy white head. Attractive I declare.

S: Floral, and biscuity.

T: Earthy, floral, grassy hops with a light bready/biscuity flavor to it. Gentle and refreshing a great showcase of the noble hops.

M: light bodied crisp dry and refreshing.

O: For an American brewery, it's hard to do a better helles lager. Very sessionable great drinkability.

330ml can. Footed flute glass @ Freiburg (L´Hospitalet-Barcelona). Pale gold color, clear appearance.. White froth, close crown & fairly good retention. Spicy, floral, yeasty & grassy aromas. Malty & crisp upfront rounded by hints of apple & pear on the back. Light body. Moderate but lively carbonation. Pale malty texture & spicy touch. Clean bitterness arises in the middle & lingers into a bitter/sweet finish. Dried aftertaste. Easy to drink !!

12 oz can was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a hazy golden straw yellow with good clarity and bubbles seen coming up through the glass.

Smell: Bready and sweet pilsner malts followed by simple grassy hops and lager yeast aroma.

Taste: Bready and a little sweet, lager yeastiness, grassy hops, and mild bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, refreshing, chewy, lager yeast, light bodied, and medium carbonation.

Overall: Just got home from the gym and this beer quenched my thirst. Just moved on to the second can. Next time through PA, there will be a it stop in Pottstown.

Served in the soup top can. A delightful fruty and grassy aroma greets the nose as you open this beer its a delightful golden hue with a hint of amber. Taste is grass fruity hops and a hint of doughy malt on the back a little thin on mouthfeel but very refreshing. All in all my favorite session lager.

Pours the color of light straw with just a tint of amber. Has a finger of creamy white foam that fell as I drank to a thin ring.Nose is malt sweetness and leafy herbal. Cheerful golden scent of grass and a bit of spice. Moderate malts on the nose. The taste is perfection. A citric crispness takes the palate to a smooth and apporachable malt sweetness. Leafy flavors with plenty of earth and a a spicy bitter. The mouthfeel is exemplary. Lively and crisp like a brisk wind. It's sweetly breaddy and fills up your mouth to finish dry and with a touch of spice and faint bitter to linger in the aftertaste.

Friendly. A lively tonic with bright and favorable aspects. Just what the doctor ordered.

Very very very light and smooth beer. Very easy to drink, to drink fast, and to drink allot of. Slight slight bit of hops, no bitterness, light carbonation. Easy to drink, easy on the wallet, great with a burger and truffle fries. Looks like a standard lager, smells nice, good crisp clean mouthfeel, would definitely order again.

12oz can into pint glass. Drank the rest of the six pack from the cans.

Very nice golden color. Not much of a head but left a white lacing down the glass.

Excellent, excellent clean beer smell. Malty goodness.

Not overly sweet, but good bready malts finishing with a nice hoppy bitterness.

Light but not overly carbonated. Very smooth finish.

This is an awesome, basic beer when you just want a straight up beer. Highly drinkable. Also really dug the open top cans. Good job Sly Fox.

The beer comes in a very clear golden yellow with some carbonation rising up in it.

The aroma has some grassy hops, slight malt, and spice.

The flavor follows with a citrus and grassy hop bitterness. There's a good amount of sweet bready malt that balances this beer out, while still staying very crisp. There's a bit of spice int he back as well.

This is a really good beer for the style and quite enjoyable.
