330ml can. Footed flute glass @ Freiburg (L´Hospitalet-Barcelona). Pale gold color, clear appearance.. White froth, close crown & fairly good retention. Spicy, floral, yeasty & grassy aromas. Malty & crisp upfront rounded by hints of apple & pear on the back. Light body. Moderate but lively carbonation. Pale malty texture & spicy touch. Clean bitterness arises in the middle & lingers into a bitter/sweet finish. Dried aftertaste. Easy to drink !!

Served in the soup top can. A delightful fruty and grassy aroma greets the nose as you open this beer its a delightful golden hue with a hint of amber. Taste is grass fruity hops and a hint of doughy malt on the back a little thin on mouthfeel but very refreshing. All in all my favorite session lager.

Pours the color of light straw with just a tint of amber. Has a finger of creamy white foam that fell as I drank to a thin ring.Nose is malt sweetness and leafy herbal. Cheerful golden scent of grass and a bit of spice. Moderate malts on the nose. The taste is perfection. A citric crispness takes the palate to a smooth and apporachable malt sweetness. Leafy flavors with plenty of earth and a a spicy bitter. The mouthfeel is exemplary. Lively and crisp like a brisk wind. It's sweetly breaddy and fills up your mouth to finish dry and with a touch of spice and faint bitter to linger in the aftertaste.

Friendly. A lively tonic with bright and favorable aspects. Just what the doctor ordered.

Poured from the new can, where the almost entire top peels off.

A- Copper orange with a small finger of head.

S- Malt sweetness and a hint of hops.

T- Straightfoward malt sweetness with a bit of hops for balance. Nothing complex, but refreshing on a hot day.

M- Slightly overcarbonated in my opinion, but still pretty decent.

O- Overall, a good beer for a hot day. I wouldn't buy it all the time, but it is a nice change of pace from IPAs and Pale Ales.

360 can poured into...nothing. This one is getting drank straight from the can as intended.

Appearance
I'm sure it's golden and I'm sure it's carbonated, but I may never know for sure. No head from no pour.

Nose
Pilsner malt and caramel with touches of lemongrass and bubblegum. Very subtle, again, from no pour.

Taste
Very light on the palate. Sweetened Pilsner graininess with dabs of caramel. Light touches of lemongrass and bubblegum. Perhaps a little hay.

Mouthfeel
Light bodied, crisp and dry.

Overall
Nifty can. Light, sessionable and refreshing.

First had: can, sample tasting at Edgemont Beer

Golden-straw color, clear, with a thin layer of bubbles on top. Plastic cup, so no real lacing going on. Aroma was pretty "lagery," sweet with bready malts, almost doughy, and some light floral hops. Taste of cereal grains, sweet, more of the bready malts from the aroma, light floral hops. A pretty basic lager. A bit bland and dull, no real crispness to it. Light body. I guess it was okay, if you like lagers, but I wasn't really digging it, and I wouldn't even call it a lawnmower beer. But it was a free sample, so I couldn't turn it down.

Very very very light and smooth beer. Very easy to drink, to drink fast, and to drink allot of. Slight slight bit of hops, no bitterness, light carbonation. Easy to drink, easy on the wallet, great with a burger and truffle fries. Looks like a standard lager, smells nice, good crisp clean mouthfeel, would definitely order again.

The beer comes in a very clear golden yellow with some carbonation rising up in it.

The aroma has some grassy hops, slight malt, and spice.

The flavor follows with a citrus and grassy hop bitterness. There's a good amount of sweet bready malt that balances this beer out, while still staying very crisp. There's a bit of spice int he back as well.

This is a really good beer for the style and quite enjoyable.

Beer review notes from 5/20/12, on tap at the Lark in East Northport, NY: pours hazy yellow gold color with a 2 finger white head that faded quickly and left decent spotty lacing.

Smells of sweet malt, caramel, grains, corn husk, vegetables, light herbs and light citrus hops; pretty earthy nose, almost like a salad.

Tastes like it smells, sweet malt, caramel, grains, corn husk, vegetables, light herbs, funky yeast, cardboard, light citrus hops and a hint of lemon zest; on par for the style, but just kind of blah as it seems like an American attempt at a German beer and not an American interpretation of a German beer. It misses the mark somewhere for me.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp and lemony, with high fizzy carbonation, a light body and a finish that's tart yet almost clean. An easy drinking beer that was alright, but not one I got excited about.

On-tap at the 2012 Goat Races.

A - Served with a beautiful golden yellow body that had a line of carbonation bubbles racing to the top...the fluffy head was white in color and stood two fingers tall...it fell to a full cap and left behind nice lacing

S - Grassy hops, toasted malts, some sweet caramel, slight spice...nothing too exciting, but pleasant none-the-less

T - First sip allows those grains to shine through...light toasted malt provides a little bit of body while also providing a buttery biscuit flavor...the hops come in towards the middle and stay through the finish...they provide a bit of spice in the middle and finish with a grassy flavor

M - Light bodied...crisp and refreshing...very clean with a balance of malts and hops

O - This was very easy to drink...I think I have found a German style that I like...a nice balance throughout and a nice finish

Transparent golden yellow with a thick creamy white head. The nose is lightly toasted grain with a touch of dough malt balanced by a fairly assertive citric hop in the back with a grassy, earthy grain lingering in the back. The flavor has a more assertive grain flavor, light notes of dough with a strong citric bitterness. There is a lightly floral and grassy hop note accompanied by some tangy rye like grain in the finish. Really light, fluffy, and creamy feel with a medium syrupy body and crisp assertive carbonation. The beer is balanced and smooth, light and crisp. Nice stuff, stronger on the grain side than I love but still very enjoyable.

On tap @ the Sly Fox Brewing Company (Phoenixville, PA) on 10/9/11. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a clear gold, with a ½ finger of bright-white head. This retains with a thin frothiness, which bunches up around the sides of the glass, leaving back a smattering of creamy lace down the sides. The aroma smells grassy and spicy, with a fresh underlying leafy citrus character. The malts have a moderate tightness in the nose, which offers up some flavorful support and overall crispness to this.

The taste has a firm citric snap across the tongue, which spreads leafy flavors and a spicy bitterness out into the mouth. Sweet bready grains do a nice job of balancing this, while those Noble hops pull up the finish with a dry spiciness and a touch of lingering bitter fruit. The mouthfeel has a lighter medium bodied feel to it, with an overall crispness to the carbonation that keeps this tight in the mouth. Pretty overall easy feel to this here.

They excel at German styles here at Sly Fox and this was no different. This was just a crisp, flavorful, and most of all EXREMELY drinkable take on the style, with my only complaint being that this was maybe a bit too dry and spicy in the finish. Other than that though, this was had a tremendous quaffable nature to it. Good stuff!

This is a crisp lager. It doesnt try to be more than it should, its exactly what a lager should taste like. Pours golden with a light head which quickly disperses. Smells of a nice mix of malts and hops. Very smooth drinker and easily could be described as a session beer.

On tap in a pint glass.

A- Bright tan golden small amount of bronze with just a small wispy white head, no stick.

S- Earthy, grainy, toasted malt and just basically earth like hops in the nose. Getting a bit of grass as it warms. It's pretty bold for what it is.

T- A nice toasted lager, crisp malty but more hoppy with earth like tones, some baked bread. Small amount of grain and grass. Some sweet malt afterwards and slightly bitter.

M- Crisp and refreshing, light and moderately carbed. Goes down all to easy.

D- I liked it.

This beer started out nicely. The appearance was a wonderful clear golden color every bubble being clearly expressed. But as it warmed slightly things seem to fall apart. What were generous toasted malts in the nose became sort of sweet cereal without being interesting. The taste was cloying with none of the charm of a great helles. I probably wouldn't order this again.

I had this at the goat races - served chilled in a willybecker.
A - A clear golden as the name states w/ small white cap. The bead is pin sized and carbonation is visible, attractive lager to view in the Sly Fox glass.

S - Great malt nose w/ floral hops and light mineral note from subtle yeast aroma

M - Crisp light body + light herbal hop w/ nice malt smooth dry texture. A bit spicy for my taste to be honest.

T - A nice crisp flavor but hoppier than most w/ a nice clean yeast profile and mild sweetness. The hops have great flavor, but higher up in the taste than malt which is a little off the mark, but taste is a nice blend of complimentary flavors

D -= A good example of the style, a nice quaffable helles, but could use more malt in the tast IMO, like the clean drinkable aspects a lot, I could drink many of these in a session

On tap during the 2009 Sly Fox Goat Races & Bock Fest on 5/3/09.

A - Clear, transparent golden body with sparse carbonation and one-finger frothy white head that settled to a quarter inch of retention and left a nice amount of sticky lace.

S - Clean lager aroma with light grassy and citrus hops paired with a bready, biscuity malt character and a touch of fresh grains.

T - Like the aroma, this Helles features a nicely balanced hop profile including light grassy and herbal hops as well as some citrus notes. Malt is sweet with a bready, almost biscuity crispness. Finishes clean with a subtle hop bite.

M - Light bodied with a soft yet syrupy texture and crisp mouthfeel.

D - Very crisp, clean and easy to drink. True to style Helles Lager. One of my favorites from Sly Fox and the true definition of a session beer. I could drink this all afternoon.

I got a growler of this from Sly Fox Brewing Company in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
Appearance: The body was a clear straw color with a good sized fluffy head which had of retention and lacing.
Smell: The aroma was sweet malts with lots of sugar.
Taste: A nice hop bit up front with a mellow malt backbone.
Mouthfeel: Very crisp.
Drinkability: Pretty darn good.
Don't drink and review.

A: Clear straw color with a three finger head poured in my .41 liter Warsteiner pilsner glass. Good head retension and lacing.

S: Malty aroma dominates. Hints of metal, straw, and bread.

T: Big malty backbone of bread and yeast with earthy hop notes.

M: Gentle bubbles on the tongue with a crisp, clean, slightly bitter finish.

D: This is how a Helles should be crisp and easy to drink summer or winter. Great session.

Pours a nice, somewhat deep golden colour with a frothy white head that leaves a minimal amount of residue on the glass.

The aroma has some hop notes to it that are a touch dirty and a touch sweet. There's a faint hint of caramel in the mix here as well.

Flavour has a touch of graininess to it and some of the sweetness that was noted in the aroma, along with an ever so slight spice flavour. There's a definite German character to this one from the Saaz hops. Mouthfeel is light bodied but spot on for the style and refreshing.

This is a simple, to the point take on the style. It's not my favourite style in the world so I'd be apt to grab something else off of the beer list, but I enjoyed this one nonetheless which to me is a testament to a job well done by the brewer. If you like the style, you'll really dig this one, and even if you don't you should enjoy it as well.

Poured a deep straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a lightly sweet doughy malt with a good dose of flowery hop.

The taste consisted of a clean husky grain, some light sweetness and a spicy noble hop.

The mouthfeel was clean and crisp with a light creaminess.

Overall a good and quaffable lager. I would have liked to have seen more of a hop flavor to match the aroma.

Crystal clear gold with a fine, white head. Great retention and lacing. Clean malt aroma with plenty of floral hops - maybe just a bit of citrus as well. Light to moderate bitterness with a bit of malt. Slightly grainy character, almost like barley straight from the bag on brewing day. Sweet finish. Light body with crisp carbonation. Off-dry. This is a highly drinkable, top notch helles, especially for a brewpub. The brewer really knows his stuff.

This is formerly the French Creek Helles.
Appears a light golden yellow with a small white head that quickly dissapears. Some spotty lacing can be seen on the glass.
Smell is of heavy caramel, malt, and refreshing hops.
Taste is of caramel & malt with a nice, zippy hop that is superbly balanced. Nice, light bready and fruity beverage that is a true winner.
Mouthfeel is balanced sweetness that slowly lingers towards the back of the mouth.
Drinkability is great. Everything is in place with this beer to be an outstanding beer with the exception of the somewhat lackluster head retention.

Finger licking good.
