Enjoyed at the Waterfront Ale House on 30th & 2nd Avenue in Manhattan. The appearance had a dark red to my color blind eyes. The taste was a smooth start followed by the expected and wondeful tart kick at the end. Perhaps it was my pallet at that point of the day but the Sly Fox Chinook seemed to get stronger as I moved through the pint.

Poured at the first night of the release of this 5th of the 2007 Anniversary IPA Project.

A - a creamy, oddly off-white, mostly diminishing head with fair lacing as the draft went down. Not completely sparkling clear, but well filtered, and a deep, deep amber body.

S - more than most Sly Fox brews, a super sweet ruby red grapefruit popped through this. Singularly, though...

T - above average, but singular as the aroma. The ruby red grapefruit aroma translated well into the brew's taste, but it falls a bit short, in there is little longevity in this and that's why it is a simple varietal. The spicy notes were not nearly as presnt as were described by the brewer.

M - good, here, in that it was a nice solidly medium-bodied brew that was bit short on the duration, as the taste did, but still above average.

D - yep. Sorry, can't add much to it. I had a few at the bar, and finished off a growler at home later that night. Does that qualify?

Appears a dark, murky amber with a soapy head that quickly fades. Tiny remnants of lace are left.
Smell is of floral aromas, along with a caramel biscuity malt detected. Perhaps a touch of citrusy grapefruit coming through but not much. Seems very tame, especially coming from the firkin.
Taste is of acidic floral hops with a touch of malt that is trying so hard to balance this one out but fades short of the accomplishment.
Mouthfeel is bitter indeed. It seems like it's up there on the IBU scale but I'm just not getting a sweet balance. It's a bit overkill of bitterness in this one.
Drinkability is decent. Definitely not my first choice of Brian's IPA's.
