Pours a clean orange-ish to amber color with an off white head. In the aroma, a small sweet malt. In the taste, a small sweet roast, a mix of gingerbread and tea. A smooth and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry malt in the aftertaste. Nothing exciting, but decent, nonetheless.

Tasting notes from 3/6/10 - a growler from Bierkraft: pours clear red color with a 1/2 inch creamy tan head that sticks around for a while.

Smells of grain and roasted malt, maybe some bread; the nose is very faint with nothing really jumping out to greet you.

Tastes of malt, roasted grains, light caramel, faint hops, some sweetness and a hint of citrus; pretty malty overall, with earthy tones, bread, and a very dry crisp finish that leaves a slight pucker and resin of either orange peel or pepper. The taste is one dimensional in that the malts dominate, but there is some good flavor mixed in this brew.

The carbonation is light, with a dry creamy mouthfeel and a medium body. The aftertaste is a combo of roasted malt and grains, which did not take away from the good flavor when this beer was going down.

A decent beer that is very drinkable, and it tastes like the Irish Red beer definition, but the flavor just doesn’t excite me. I’d drink this beer again, but would not seek it out.

Draft at St. Stephens on Green.

Pours a dark coppery/ruby color with dark golden amber edges when held to a light and a half finger off-white head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Not much n the way of lacing.

Spicy, toasted malt aroma with lots of toasted sweet malt and peppery spice. Hints of rye, caramel and toffee with slight dark fruit, especially dark cherry. Subtle earthy hops but the nose is dominated the spice and sweet malt.

Medium bodied with lots of tight carbonation up front and an overpowering peppery spice character. It's a bit abrasive and really takes away from the subtle hops and sweet malt character, lingering into a long dry finish. Sweet slightly toasted malt flavor mid-palate with hints of rye, caramel, biscuit and toffee. This creates a bit of balance but overall the dominant spiciness makes this beer very unpleasant and tough to drink.
