12 oz can, best by 2/27/14 on the bottom.

appears a clear copper color, basically no head. mild malty aroma. same with the taste - clean slightly grainy sweet taste. medium body, higher carbonation.

overall a easying drinking but moderately flavored lager.

A: Pours a clear amber to dark amber in color with light visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall creamy beige head that reduces quickly to a very thin film in the center of surface of the beer. Light to moderate lacing is observed.

S: Light aromas of caramel malts with some light sweetness present as well.

T: Moderate flavors of bready malts with some light amounts of caramel sweetness. Light amounts of lingering bitterness.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Creamy and smooth.

O: This beer is really enjoyable and easy to drink - definitely a sessionable beer and one I would enjoy having again.

Can into mug at 40-45 degrees.

Pours with a decent cream colored head over a very deep ruby to brown body. Great clarity. Touch of carbonation.

Aromas are fairly sweet and fruity. Light soapiness, with lavendar, sweet red grape, and light floral hops.

Flavors include bread crust - plenty of yeast, along with floral hops, apple, and some grape skins.

Mouthfeel is fairly full, yet crisp. Very easy on the palate.

A really nice Dunkel, overall.

Toasty and slighly robust character allows this Munich Dunkel to stand out among the common Lagers of Germany. Although brewed in Pennsylvania, the beer's authentic flavor earns it high marks.

The Dunkel pours with a brownish copper color and a mild haze that prevents it from bright clarity. A turbulent pour from the can delivers a creamy and airy off white head that retains well, leaving very little lace behind. A solid look, but slight restrictions on color, head character, and lace leaves me wanting more.

Aromas of toast, bread crust, light honey, apples and dates give a glimpse into the toasty malt complements to pilsner malt. The slight fruity notes seem to come from grain and sulfur rather than esters. Low in hops and phenolic spice, the beer's scent is clean and focuses on the complex darker components of malt.

Medium malt flavors of light breads, bread crust, and slight yeasty taste gives a rich taste but with low-lying sweetness of mild honey and powdered sugar. Light toasted grains contribute a nutty and crusty taste that develops an almost grape and fig taste that's more readily found in bigger beers like bocks. But the modest sweetness and rather robust taste balances well against the herbal hop additions that adequatedly bitter the beer and leads to a crisp and clean finish.

Medium bodied from the impressions of toasty malts and creamy carbonation; but as the carbonation dissipates, the beer turns slightly grainy and light headed into finish. Lightly woody and with slight grassy bite, the finish brings a mild alcohol warmth and clean bitter aftertaste.

The Pilsner qualities of the beer are clear, while the additions of dark grain add numerous complexities for extra robust taste and texture. A very good German Dunkel!
