Had on tap at Whole Foods in Glen Mills PA. Review from notes.

A: Pours a hazy light yellow color with a small white head on top. Medium retention, slowly reducing to a thin cap on top. Minimal lacing.

S: Lots of wheat, some yeast, and a good bit of banana. There is some light pepper and coriander as well.

T: Similar to the aroma with a good bit of banana and some doughy malt. More spice from the yeast as well.

M: Light to medium body with bubble carbonation. Drinks easy.

O: A pretty good hefe. If it were readily available where I lived I could see myself keeping it in the fridge.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a thick creamy white head. The nose is a little messy and has lots of banana. It is a bit sweet and fruity with little else. The taste is singular, hints of clove and yeast underneath a dominant banana and lemon type hefeweizen flavor with a light bitterness in the back. The body is soft and creamy, lower carbonation for a hefe but a clean crisp finish. This is easy to drink and full of flavor, very simple and lacks the carbonation and spicy balance of a great hefe.

On tap at Bar Americain midtown Manhattan.

Poured a nice hazy yellow/orange with 1.5" head. Nicely laced as I drank.

Decent nose, banana and clove noticeable but not pronounced.

Muted flavors, however, limited this hefe for me. Alcohol bite at the end not expected (and not welcomed, really).

In the end, this is an average hefe at best.

Served on-tap at the Warwick Hotel in Hummelstown, PA.

A: The ale is a cloudy autumn leaves of auburb yellow-and-brown hues. No head whatsoever.

S: The nose offers up some wheat, lightly tart, with a just a bit of weizen-like clove.

T: The weizen's flavor comes through more vibrantly in the taste. Banana and clove stand out, sweetening up the mild tartness of the wheat. Bready malts follow the wheat, adding body to the ale without siphoning off the sweetness.

M: The mouthfeel gets the job done, offering me enough wheat and yeast to get away from the pale wheat ale territory.

D: Another glass or two wouldn't anybody.

Had this beer on tap at Tap and Table on Sly Fox night. Since candle light is all there is in the T&T it was tough to get a great look but it seemed to be very hazy and straw colored. The cloudiness was as thick as I've ever seen on a Hefe. There was a great hefe aroma mostly cloves. The taste was the same almost all cloves but very smooth. The feel was creamy. I could drink more of these and will watch for them in cans.

Serving: on-tap at the Standard tap in Philadelphia, PA

Pours a cloudy gold color with thin white head. Aroma was kind of week with only a faint hint of citrus. Flavor was bland as well with a slight touch of lemon citrus. Very crisp with a very slight sour finish.

Barvarian wheat beer with hersbrucker hops.

A: Poured a beautiful golden-orange that was cloudy by nature and was topped off by a bright white fluffy head that held up nicely leaving a moderate trail lacing.

S: The nose yielded a strong sense of wheat, bananas, cloves and some light bubblegum hints all combining for a very nice aromatic experience.

T: The flavor was sweet and spicy with lemony wheat, bananas, pineapples, and zesty dry oranges. There was some spicy citrus notes along with a light breadiness and good yeasty attributes.

M: light, creamy leaving a nice slick coating on the tongue of wheat and citrus all brought on by a crisp carbonation.

D: Overall a very nice spicy and sweet drinking weiss that you don't want to put down, very refreshing wit a nice lemony tang. Could drink this all night.

a: The color was right, a hazy, murky straw color. Unfortunately this was served to me in a pint glass filled to the very top. I swirled myself a head after a few sips.

s: All the right aroams are here, not as sweet as some hefes.

t: Drier and less sweet than other hefes, very nice. Mild spice and flowers at the end.

m: Thick, chewy, and creamy. Spot-on.

d: These folks make a great hefe.

had this at the memphis tap room from a fresh keg. Very nice color--cloudy golden with a nice head that left substancial lacing. What struck me most was the sour aftertaste. It had a good start--slightyly bitter but overall refreshing. I think I'll have to try it again. Overall I think it was a very good representation of the style from color to overall apearance to presentation. It was late and I think my taste buds were on overload.
My tastebuds muist have been on overload that night. The flavor is slightly spiced with clove,
citrus and leaves a crisp, dry aftertaste. Highly drinkable, nice medium bodied flavor, not too heavy.

again, another lackluster pour from the tap, so i won't hold that against this beer.

overall, this is a pretty decent wheat beer. if it were a bit lighter i'd say it'd be a dead ringer of a bavarian styled hefewiezen, but the body's color lends itself more to an american wheat beer. good fruitiness from the yeast and has a great malt character of abundant sweetness. i don't know how this would taste out of a can, which seems to be sly fox's M.O. lately, but from a tap this is a top notch beer.

Appearance: Served a golden orange color with a frothy white head.

Smell: Wheat and yeast along with a light dash of lemon and cloves grace the nose.

Taste: This beer is built more for easy drinking than for deep contemplation. It has a light touch of dry wheat, lemon banana phenols and zesty spices.

Mouthfeel: Lively yet light and refreshing.

Drinkability: I saw this beer in cans. After trying this one I think it might just be a winner at my (non-BA) friends parties this summer. It is a beer that we can all agree on IMO. very approachable and sessionable.

Hope this is helpful.

I had this pint on-tap at Tango's in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
Appearance: As far as unflited wheat's go, I'm not a big fan of the tast, but the appearance is great. It was poured with two fingers of head that was bright white. The retention was good, but there was no lacing at all. The body was an off yellow, but a great cloudy consistency.
Smell: Nice an fruity, a bit of a spciy variety of hop. The dominate aroma was certainly the fruity ideas, kinda toying with this by changing all the way down.
Taste: Certainly yeasty, in my opinon two much. It was overpowering all of the aroma flavors.
Mouthfeel: It was a bit chewy.
Drinkability:Fair, I'll give it another try.
Don't drink and review.

Served as a cloudy orange-amber berr with modest white puffy head. Smell is banana-like with some yeasty notes present. Taste also is dominated by banana with a nice spiciness also to be found. Finish light and refreshing. Great drinkability. Good interpretation of the style.

Hazy caramel gold with a bright white head and great retention. The aroma hits all the bases expected of a weisse - cloves, lemon, bread, vanilla. There's also a bit of caramel and some banana as it warms. Some of the same in the flavour, but it falls just short. The spiciness is more pronounced though, particularly near the finish. There's also plenty of citrus and fruit character. Medium/light body and carbonation, slightly drying. This is pretty good, but the flavour doesn't quite match the aroma.

This beer came a dark cloudy orange.

Smelled of smooth wheat, pineapples, lemons and a hint of cloves.

The flavor was dominated by a pleasant thick wheat and was then followed by an invigorating lemon, banana and blueberry fruitiness with just a slight touch of hop dryness. Finishes with wheat and a bit of yeast.

Mouth feel is light to medium bodied with a full mouth of creamy carbonation.

It came to me a rich, opaque yellow, bright and fluorescent. A thick, two fingers of sheer white head frothed and stayed some time. Stitches of lacing clung to the glass.

The aroma carried bunches, hell, trees, full of bananas, and was wrapped by a creamy yeast and clove pairing, coming off as minty with a quick sniff.

Upon sipping, the malt and yeast carry an earthy tartness forward, but are soon swamped by the banana, bubble gum, and clove notes that swirl on the palate, setting it to glowing. Orange zest and apple drift through lazily, and are complimented by a less specific spiciness. The finish is a gradual fade of all the elements, leaving a tart wheat and yeast glow. It's refreshing, glowing, and has a fun, zesty flavor.

Medium bodied, it comes across as creamy, and the spiciness and carbonation liven the palate, though the carbonation is rather heavy.

It's damned pretty to look at, but I had no qualms with lessening that beauty by drinking it down. It's what is generally expected of a Hefe, but it goes beyond the pale by being fresh-tasting, spirited, and genuinely exciting. It flows like the sweetest water, but with all the flavor you could ask for. It was mighty fine at the goat race in May, and every bit as good this time, except this time, I remember it better. And I'm glad for that.

Draught in Phoenixville: This is a very good heffe. A little more body and flavor than most. It pours an opaque, yellowish-golden color. The aroma is pretty standard for the style. Notes of wheat, banana, clove and some citrus. The taste is along the same lines, with nice notes of the clove and spiciness to the beer.

Bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Enough to keep King Kong giggling. This one reminded me of the General Lafayette's Bavarian Hefe: Golden, a tinge creamy, and with sweet banana tastes from hear to eternity. Add in some sweet, baked cake flavors, and I'm all in.

If I'm being picky, the mouthfeel is a little thin, borderline watery, on this one, making it take second place to the General's brew. But Royal Weisse is great, and available year-round, so who's complaining about this golden-colored knockout?

(Swigged while dreaming of my Firewaters bartender.)

I had this from the tap at Sly Fox Royersford. It was served with a nice pillowy white head on the cloudy golden brew. A beautiful looking hefe weizen.

Smell, Taste - Bananas, Bananas, Bananas, Bananas, Milk and Yeast.

I was with a friend who has had this before at his house via sixtel and he said he didn't remember it as "banana-y". It was still a delicious treat even though I had to detract for drinkability. it was way too sweet for my tastes. Still an enjoyable beer and I can't wait to try it again to compare.

Tried on-tap at the Khyber.

Cloudy orange pour, big white head, some swirls of carbonation tornadoing through the glass.

Smell was hard to get a read on in the bar, but I picked up some orange notes, banana, bubblegum, and a bit of cloves. Smelled, to my nose, just like a hefe should.

Flavor is quite nice, and I'm no huge hefeweizen fan. Huge fruity flavor, with the same banana that's in the nose, but a nice orange peel in there, too, that I more often associate with a wit. Little bits of yeast and lemon give way to a nice sweetness that is pleasant but not cloying. Finishes a spicy little flourish.

Overall: Nice stuff here, and I still haven't had a bad beer from Sly Fox. This is just a well-done hefe that's worth trying if you see it.

Appearance. Very good. Dirty orange. Hazy with yeast. Beautiful head.

Smell. Wow. Wow. Intense smell of bananas and cloves. Remarkable.

Taste: Very good. Tons of malty banana flavor with a little bit of pepper and citrus (lemon).

Mouthfeel. Very good. Creamy. Some crisp wheat. Heavy but enjoyably so. Aventinus-like.

Drinkabiliy. A little heavy.

Just a wonderful drinking experience. I have to visit this brewery . . . now.

Very cloudy, deep orange color with a touch of rust. Not in the least bit clear. Smallish bubbly head, fades to a nice steady film.

Nose is sweetish wheat bread and lots of ripe banana. Very ripe aroma. Taste is full, I love that, an almost chewy fullness for a hefe, very nice. Taste is clean, with soft malts and wheat, lots and lots of fruity ripe banana, and a touch of bubble gum.

A good amount of tight carbonation and a medium mouthfeel really round out this brew.

Finishes real clean, with residual banana flavors and yeast. A real REAL good hefe. Packed with flavor yet still traditional in its overall approach and still extremely drinkable.

Appears a slightly cloudy golden orange with a frothy white head that seems to stick around. Again, the issue with no lacing. Is this the way the S.F. washes their glasses, or is it the beer being brewed at ROFO?
The smell is of artificial bananas. I'm convinced that they started using banana extract on this since last year. It was always that natural bubble gum-ish and banana aroma before then but now it seems to be nothing but bananas, which leads me to think that. If not, then perhaps they fermented this at a lower temperature before last year. Either that, or this has been doing some serious conditioning with a unique yeast strain.
Taste is of bananas with some crisp wheat in the background.
Mouthfeel is of a medium bodied wheat beer. This could be slightly lower on the carbonation but it's decent.

Heard some good things about Sly Fox. Purchased a pint at McGillin’s in Philly during a recent pub crawl.

The lighting wasn’t excellent, but this brew was decidedly dark, like some cheese on top of your pizza after its been in the oven for just a bit too long. Cloudy, with a decent finger of off-white foam on top and a spattering of carbonation around the inside of the glass. Reduced quickly to a sticky ring.

The expected yeasty nose is complimented by fruity banana that’s been on the table top for a day too long and some clove.

Sweet tasting weisse, with the banana and some apple mixing with pepper and clove. Medium bodied and creamy. Finishes sweet with a good bit of lingering flavor.

Those phenols and esters, mixed with a tingly carbonation and creamy mouthfeel, make for a very drinkable brew. Wish we could find this one a little further south.

A great munich style hefe. Pours a bright orange hue with a slight white head. Smell is heavy on the banana and phenols. Taste is yeasty, slightly spicy, lots of banana here. Slightly overcarbonated in my opinion. Light on the pallete and very drinkable. I prefer their Dunkel Weisse but this is pretty good. Check it out if you're in the pub.
