Crystal-clear yellow gold, thin white head, and several streaming columns of bubbles that lasted for most of the pint.

Smell is light and delicate toasted malt, a hint of fruitiness, and a grassy little bit of hops. Spot-on for the style.

Flavor is understated, with a solid toasted grain flavor jumping to the front, followed by a lightly floral hoppiness on the back end. Quite crisp and clean. Light mouthfeel.

Overall: Nothing to make you lose your mind, but a solid, easy-drinking lager.

This beer came a pale lager yellow with great streams of bubbles rising single file to the surface where they assembled into a chunky head that looked a lot like slushy ice floating on top of my glass. Smelled of earthy bread dough, smooth yeast and a touch of cherries. The flavor consisted of a delicate, sour nutty malt with a blueberry sweetness. This has an awesome clean finish with just a hint of dry ash. The mouth feel is light to medium bodied with a light, big bubbled carbonation. Over all, this is a smooth and easy going beer.

Light golden with some sticky lace that lasts for quite some time. The aroma is very fruity, with cherry hints (pits and all) in the mix as well as some fresh noble hops and some light, white bread-like malts. The taste is an intricate blend of sweet hops, fruit flavors, and biscuity malts. Very nice. The mouthfeel is light, but it seems a bit too light to me. The drinkability, however, remains very good.

Appearance: clear yellow in color with small 1/2" head that disappeared quickly.

Smell: the aroma was grassy.

Taste: the flavor had some decent malt and bitterness levels, along with the usual grassy tones. Not weak on the tongue by any means, just a simple lager.

Mouthfeel was clean and crisp. The carbonation levels seemed a bit light.

Drinkability: nicely drinkable if you are looking for a decent lager to enjoy through the afternoon without filling up.

Well I am utterly disappointed with the other reviews of this beer. I'm pretty sure it might have been definately possibly the best Helles I've ever had. I've only tried a handful, but they were actually mostly German.

Sly Fox's Helles is a wonderful malty experience. Really great rich malt flavors that seem JUICY to me. The beer is light enough in body and flavor, and super clean as well, to make this a quite quaffable beer. It really strikes the perfect balance between flavor and restraint.

I'm disappointed that I had to drink it out of a pint glass. The healthy crabonation seemed slow and uninspired in the pint glass. Perhaps a 0.5l 'angled' mug or perhaps a pilsner glass would have been better.

Overall, very very impressed.

Had this on tap at The Standard Tap in Phila, PA. It poured with virtually no head, a pale, golden color and very clear. It was tough to distinguish any aromas other than a very slight note of hops. It was smoky in the bar and tough to smell but I'm fairly certain this one isn't punching you in the face with aromas. It tasted very much like a pilsner to me (I guess it's the noble hops thing) and for a while, I thought I was accidentally poured a Victory Prima because that was on tap as well. It was very bitter up front, with hints of grapefruit... the malts showed through towards the end. It was certainly refreshing with its medium to light mouthfeel. You could definitely have more than one of these...

A brilliant very light golden yellow when poured - with minimal head/lacing. The nose is small, thick and almost oily. As for taste, it is agreeably dry, with a very small bite in the middle of the palate. A light grain taste comes through which is agreeable and refreshing. Mouthfeel is a little thicker/stickier than one might expect but was by no means unpleasant. Drinkability is very high - have had more than one night where have downed the helles well. Not a flavor monster certainly, but a well made beer in a lighter style.

The beer pours a light gold color with a spotty white lace head. The aroma is average. It boasts of mostly pale malts and lager yeast, nothing else. The taste is decent. It has light, grainy, pale malt flavor with some bitter hops and a dry lager yeast finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a decent beer, but not their best.

It is a pale gold color with little head. The aroma has some delicate hops, but it is almost not noticeable. The thin body is slight sweet and grainy with a hoppy finish. It finishes a little too wet. It is only an above average beer. It is more for the unadventurous who find themselves at this brewpub.

I was hoping for big things from this beer on tap. I was disappointed, which happens often with Sly Fox brews. This one poured yellow, sort of like a Bud. It had no discernible aroma other than yeast and alcohol. It had a more bitter taste than a Bud or Miller, which was the only thing to distinguish it from the mass produced swill. It was cool and wet in the mouth and went down like beer. This was just really average.

This one was a slightly hazy, straw color. There was no head to speak of, or lacing. There was a pleasant, but non-descript aroma to the brew. It was somewhat malty and sweet. There was a fairly typical sweetness to the beer. Medium bodied. Not too bad!

Everyone at the bar was telling me this was a good beer for pilsner. I haven't had a ton of pilsners so I will take their word for it.

I enjoyed the beer, which arrived with a nice head and was good yellow color. I can't remember how long the head lasted, but I don't remember being overly disappointed nor amazed. The beer wasn't very malty, but it was very smooth to drink. It had a little bit too much bitterness in the aftertaste for this type of beer (at least for me, again, that may be fine for the style). For me balance between malt and hops is something I desire, so the lower malt profile made the bitterness less enjoyable for me.

I will not be going out of my way to get this again. But, at the same time, I enjoyed it and would definitely give it another try in the future.

This beer was sampled at the brewery. Poured a very light and golden pale yellow color and was very clear. The head was non-existant. The aroma was, well this beer had very little aroma to speak about. This beer is super smooth going down and seems like it must have been conditioned for a long time. Very light in body, flavor and color. Not bad at all, but usually I’m looking for something with more substance and stronger flavors in a beer.

Gold in color with a white head. Flavor profile dominated by malt with a nice hop flavor that comes through towards the back of the mouth. Perceived bitterness is pretty low and leaves you with a nice clean finish. Overall a damn fine brew.
