12oz can. Pours a translucent stray color with an inch of head. Minimal lacing. Aromas of toasted malts, grassy hops, hay, and sweet bread. Lots of malt flavor at first followed up by some of the cut grass. Toasted bready malts with hints of wheat and hay. Finishes with a light bitterness along with some floral notes. Good amount of body with lots of carbonation. A can of this is perfect for the summer. Overall, worth getting again.

Poured from the bottle, Sily Fox Pikeland Pils is yellow/straw in color with a grassy, spiced nose. There isn’t much in the way of foam and the body of the beer is just slightly hazy.

This beer offers up flavors of grassy hops, some bready malts, crackers, and even a hint of tea. The beer has a crisp mouthfeel and there are some herbal notes as well along with some fruit flavors trying to poke out their heads on the palate, even if briefly. The beer finishes mostly bitter and dry and the bitterness lingers for some time.

A good German style pilsner isn’t alwayseasy to come by but Sly Fox has produced a very good example with this beer. I like its snappy, crisp flavor profile and the herbs and grasses are nicely placed and balanced. It’s certainly a pilsner worth trying and one that most everyone will like.

A: Brilliant yellow, with good layer of thin white head that covered the top of the glass. Well carbonated.

S: Straw and dried grass. Dried tree bark. Some wheat.

T: Starts with a dried leaf and straw, like the smell, but adds sone nice mild caramel and toffee notes. Finishes with a sweetness of wheat crackers. Very subtle mix of orange peel tartness and papaya and pineapple sweetness.

M: Medium light consistency. Nice crispness. Hops are light but still a definite dryness.

O: I really like this pilsner. Some traditional German examples are pointlessly bitter and dry and lack the flavor to back it up. This is a really nicely balanced example with a good complex profile.
