Poured on a hazy Memorial Day afternoon...
Appeared - with a firm, frothy, hite, 1" head and mostly diminsihing lacing through the draft. Nice, clean, clear amber to orange body.

Smelled - as most Sly Fox IPA's do, very lightly. Being an addition of a few varietal hops, this does give off a light hoppy nose, with a backbone of light resin. Oddly, you can pull just a little of yeastiness out of it, maybe even a bit of cardboard or paper.

Tastes - as all of the aromas, with a bit more. This is where some of the light citrus punches cmes through, but the combination of hops smoothes out any one distinguishing factor here. A soild IPA, and just as good in bottles than on tap, unless you get a Firkin Friday offering, then we are talkng about serious changes.

Mouthfeel - somewhere etween the usual, expected average watery blend to approaching the oiliness of an Odyssey Imperial IPA.

Drinkability - these combinations of hops and feels, with an average ABV for the style, make this a backbone of the Sly Fox arsenal. You can spend a long time with this berew. Lord knows I have.

This beer was definantly hopped to the tilt, but the great thing about it was that it had big enough malt backbone to support all the hops.Real nice deep copper color with a sticky head, hop aroma is evident up front for sure but there is a malty sweet tinge in there as well,a real mans beer I believe 8%abv,an awesome brew even for a non-nophead like me.

Light floral hop aroma, some malty sweetness eventually came to the top, orange amber color, my first sip had a quick sweetness up front, and a grainey hop in the middle, and a nice bigtime bittering finish that kept you content for a while. Simple but enjoyable hoppy IPA.

Had this one in a growler a while back and had to score a bottle of this one...thanks to BeerBeing for sending this my way.
Rust color with two full fingers of eggshell white head...most sticks around and what fades, leaves behind some generous lacing.
Pleasant in the nose with a nice blend of floral and citrus hops, spice, and enough malt to offer up a mild sweetness.
Flavor is more of the same as above, but the hop bitterness overshadows the hint of sweet this one is displaying in the flavor.
I like the addition of the spice, while this is no "spiced" beer, it finishes with a bite and washes away clean after each swig.
The mouthfeel is slightly above average and the carbonation is where I like to see an IPA.
I'll have to see how I scored this one from the growler, but Sly Fox has done an exceptional job to bottle this winner without any flaws.
A great session beer for me...will need to score a few more the next time I visit PA.

Pours a egg shell colored one and half finger head. Clear reddish body. Very nice lacing and a nice cap remains, big ring of lacing as well. Smells quite floral, some alcohol but not in a bad way, touch of carmel malts, some bready yeast. Tastes, neutral bready malts, touch of sweet crystal malts, earthy hops, a big piney resinous hoppy bitter finish. Medium dry, medium full bodied quite nice, low carbing. $2.19 a single not bad for a %7 IPA.

Thanks to Exiled for sharing this beer.

The beer pours a orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma is orange and pine hops with a caramel malt backbone. The flavor is more orange and pine hops. Medium bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

I have been on BA for a while but here is my first review. I snagged a case of the 113 22-ounce bottles to see how it tastes compared to 113 that I have had on tap (which I enjoy).

I was very pleased with how it has held up compared to on-draft. The smell and taste are hoppy and smooth. It is extremely drinkable which means it won't last long in my household with myself and a few other BA's lurking about. I got this at the BeerYard for $37.50 a case which makes it a great bargain at that price IMO. I am a huge IPA fan & this beer at that price will make it a mainstay in my household.

22oz bottle poured into a standard pint glass. pours a little on the darkside for an IPA which i kinda like. a bronze color bordering on reddish orange. really nice retentive off white rocky bubbly head. lots of soapy like bubbles clinging to the glass. a little sediment visible, but still clear. this one looks oh soo good.

strong pungent hops right off the pour...ahh yes. a nice caramel malt rounds it out. as balanced as you would want it to be, with the balance leaning towards the hoppy side. maybe some tropical fruits, some spruce like wood.

it just tingles your taste buds with hops. citrus hops turn into a spucy, woody, caramel malt. then finishs with a mix of the hops and malts. some subtle tropical fruity flavors in the mix. finishs with an intense lingering hop bitterness.
im torn between a 4 and 4.5.

has a hoppy, oily, resiny mouthfeel, left with a bitter drymouth after the bottle, but you gotta expect that from a big ipa. medium body.

pretty good drinkability, but because it only comes in bombers your not likely to drink more than one in a sitting. you feel it pretty good off of one bomber however. very good ipa, wouldnt mind having it again. i think it should be classified as a double ipa, but what do i know.
now time to go see what my hop plants look like after a long winter. beautiful spring day today, almost 80 degrees!

Pours a dark brown-orange body with soft effervescence... thick, rocky off-white head that fills a snifter nicely with tremendous lacing... hops to the point of spruce car air freshner, except for the vanilla wafting--and a strange perfumy scent that might not appeal... smooth, slightly carbonated with an active early flourish and a soft finish--little aftertaste--BIG and crunchy when chewed... as HEAVY an IPA taste as I have had in recent memory--arresting and vivacious citric fruit rush --at times a bit thick... my goodbye 2008 beer is another gift from Ryan for another fantasy baseball beatdown...SlyFox is capable of good stuff, and the beer is solid, but possibly one of those that, as the bottle claims, "belches more hops" when it might ease up to not suck the Christmas tree dry of its spruce.... a highway of hops indeed...

On-tap at The Ale House in Vestal.

Appearance: A darker amber color with good bubbles and nice symmetrical rings layering around the top with each sip.

Smell: This is a very weird IPA. There's a bit of funky, doughy, caustic, raucous, and altogether weird bitterness going on. Like the husks of a hop sans oils, or saturated. Or something like that. Yet it's aromatic and pungent.

Taste: Kind of like eating a roasted hop drenched in sweet and sour sauce. Not necessarily completely unlike anything I've ever had, but this is a bit weirder. All over the map, but intriguing, and surging, and citrus, and bitter, and sour, and weird, with some caramel and malty sweetness on the forefront.

Mouthfeel: Good and medium-bodied, with a fair creaminess and smooth carbonation.

Drinkability: Again, this is very different for me. Maybe I'll try the bomber and review it again, because it was tough, welcomingly so, to grasp, and for that I applaud it. Here's to more Sly Fox in the future.
