A- Crystal clear golden body with a big fluffy white head.

S- Piney hops come through very nicely, with a nice citrus around present as well.

T- Nice wave of piney hops up front, followed by some sweet malt presence. Finish has the piney hops coming back in with a dash of malt and citrus.

M- Smooth and drinkable. Medium carbonation, medium body.

O- A very good IPA. One you could drink a few of.

Servign Type - Bottle

Appearance - Light golden tan/yellow with a 1/2 inch foamy head. Some thick, sticky lacing.

Smell - Dank, skunky hops. Some Malts, orange, grapefruit, pine. Some sour note near the finish.

Taste - Dank hops, mix with some caramel malts, and even a lager like malt starts this one off. The hops are present but a little buried behind the hops. Actually this one is closer to a pale ale with its strong caramel, and pale malt backbone. Some minor yeasty sugars, and a little spice like orange peel is also noticeable.

Mouthfeel - Pale malts with dank hops coat the tongue. Palate gets more pale malts along with a little spice kick. Aftertaste is a little malty and weak.

Overall - Decent, a nice beginner ipa. Nothing stands out with this one, and its not the smoothest ipa out there. But, it is flavorful and easy to drink. Its a step up from most from the bottom list companies like Samuel Adams and tommyknocker but nothing special.

Appears a copper clear hue with a big white head, this brewed down in VA...the hops have not evolved to the east coast to the point where they have on the west coast. No worries, I'm glad to try an IPA from VA...especially one that features a badass depiction of an Eight Point buck. Aroma has a nice citrus, hints of grapefruit/lemon notes with a sweet biscuit malt base that's about it on the aroma, but solid overall. Flavor has alcohol notes that collide with the hop notes, big grapefruit/citrus peel, fruity quality with a bit of fusel alcohol notes. Medium bodied oily textures, hot finish from the alcohol lingering bitterness. So many smoother IPAs with twice the hops out there, but this is a fine beer that I'm willing to trip on...on my way to beers like Three Floyd's Permanent Funeral or Zombie Dust. It's the growing pains of having a craft revolution, imagine though for some folks down in VA, this may be the closest beer to them with actual hop expression we will see how this brewery grows and develops beyond this introductory IPA.
