single from the Caboose, Ashland

a: single bottle into a wide chalice, the beer is an attractive golden amber in color, topped witht a healthy layer of white carbonation that shows decent retention and some light lace, a swirl of the glass brings out a full, creamy head

s: bready pale malts make up the base, with a mild caramel addition - I much prefer things this way...cleaner and drier, citrus peel and young pine combine with some juicy tropical notes (passionfruit) to form a very pleasant hop aroma - not particularly aggressive or pungent, but very well balanced, and solidly into ipa territory

m: carbonation on the lower end of moderate, delicate and creamy, body around the lighter side of medium

t: the flavors here are similar to the nose - hop notes of citrus and green pine with a lightly malty character and sweetness, bitterness grows from light to full in the finish

o: a really solid, good ipa overall, that could stand some tweaking but does well for itself as is

On draft in Georgetown.

The beer is clear and golden with an inch of white head. The aroma brings bitter hops, pine, a touch of floral character. Certainly a hop forward offering with ample bitterness throughout, finishing dry. Alcohol presence is noticeable and I was surprised to find that this beer was less than 6% ABV. A decent offering and example of the style, but not something I feel I need to have again. A middle of the pack IPA with no distinguishing traits.

Eight Point IPA from Devils Backbone is a great IPA. Clean, hoppy and pretty dry.

A: Yellow colour and a 4 mm head that lasts very well. 4.5

S: There is a kinda pear flavour along with piney hops. 4

T: Malty with tangy grapefruit hops. Again, I taste pear for some reason. The finish is dry. 3.75

M: Nice and foamy. 4
