12oz pour at Devil's Backbone Outpost in Lexington, VA. Assumed to be on tap, served (unfortunately) in a clear plastic cup.
Appearance: Plastic cup not withstanding, clear gold, with a thin white head and plenty of fine lacing.
Smell: Yeasty, fruity esters, hint of pear.
Taste: Tastes a lot like it smells, but with some notable noble hop bitterness to counter the malt sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Good thickness, smooth, but little to no carbonation.
Overall / Drinkability: Hit the style pretty wel!, but not as dangerously drinkable as this style normally is. Went well with a smoke turkey sandwich, but otherwise, one is enough. Bummer on the cup vs glass.

Excellent beer, nicely reflects the style with maybe a little too much sugar burn, the smallest amount. It's very rich and has all of the characteristics of Belgians that I like. I could drink it often and will when I get the chance.

From the bottle, it pours a clear golden color with a small head, though bubbles are constantly replenishing what is there. Bready with some spice in the nose. The mouth gets a bit of malt with candy sugar. Smooth mouthfeel.

This may have been a bad bottle, but it was a bit too bitter for me. Not a good example of a Belgian ale.

12 oz bottle.
Pours clear light golden with a small and weak head. Minimal lacing.
Modestly attractive aroma features both bready malts and fruity/spicy notes.
The flavor follows.
Light body and medium-light carbonation.

A- Clear golden pour to a tumbler with a bubbly white head that dies down fairly quickly. Ends up with no belt and rare lace.
S- Mostly the yeast off the top with a bundle of pale fruits and some spice. Golden candi sugar, pear, yeast spice, slight banana and even a champagne grape hint.
T- Pale candi sugar and light skinned fruits like apple and pear responsible for much of the flavor. Coriander, banana, lemon peel, white grapes, phenols and pale cracked cereal grains.
MF- Silky and frothy texture to the medium body. Carbonation on the high side with a certain effervescent feeling on the palate and a light bitterness rounds it out.
A medium ABV golden Belgian ale with spice and fruits. Drinks smoothly without sweetness interfering with the flavors.
