From the menu: "28 IBU's. This semi-strong stout is based off the recipes of the two early 20th century English stouts. Black, brown, amber, & crystal malts provide the bulk of this beers [sic] complex roasted coffee & chocolate notes."
On tap at the brewpub last weekend.
Pours a dark brown color with a very thin tan head that quickly falls outward into a thin collar without any real lacing. The nose brings forward mostly roasted malt and coffee along with a bit of sweetness. The flavor is quite roasty as well and not really a hop presence. The flavor does add a touch of caramel from the aforementioned crystal malts. Slight bitterness in the finish of a medium-bodied brew. Nice example of the style.
