Poured chilled in double-walled insulated glass.

A: caramelized dark amber, relatively clear; thin-to-no head; good carbonation; promising lacing
S: very up-front malt, well toasted, alcohol noticeable; promising as far as a scottish ale goes
T: complex, well-spiced ale; closer, in fact, to a winter warmer than to a scottish ale; spicing includes nutmeg, mulled wine; somewhat mean after bite
M: viscous, thick

A bit of a disappointment, mainly because it seems off the category I was expecting

A: Pours a clear, reddish copper color. Only about 1/2 finger of off-white head, but what there is stays around for a moderate amount of time. Carbonation sticks to the sides of the glass.

S: A hefty punch of crystal malts starts off the aroma. Complemented by toffee, burnt sugar, and a decent amount of alcohol. Not amazingly complex or vibrant, but a good solid aroma.

T: The flavor shines a bit more than the aroma. Lots of malts, caramel, alcoholic phenols and a nice pepperiness, a slight hop bitterness on the finish. I actually think they they overdid it a bit with the alcohol, to me it largely overpowers the more subtle flavors of the brew.

M: A rather toothsome brew. moderate carbonation, but feels almost chewy in the mouth, and coats the mouth quite effectively.

O: This is a nice beer for a winter night. Doing a full review now, I notice the flaws in the beer a bit more. That being said, this is the last beer of the 2nd 6-pack that I picked up. It's a solid beer, works just as well out of the bottle as out of the glass, and it'll warm you up.

A: This poured a clear dark copper with a little light tan head.
S: It smelled like earthy copper hops and some toffee and nutty malt.
T: It tasted like copper and earthy toffee and nutty malt. It had an earthy bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Decent body.
D: This was an average scotch ale at best. The scent and taste and body weren't bad, but not that enjoyable. The finish was a little rough too, so it wasn't easy to drink or enjoy. Not recommended.
