Dull pale orange, opaque with streams of tiny bubbles rising like champagne, though not as rapidly. Thin layer of foam after the pour, but it fades to nothing after a few seconds. No lace, nothing.

Aroma is yeasty with a hint of white pepper spice, sweetness underneath.

First thing that hits is a jarring astringency, then a dry peppery bitterness, and some graininess underneath. Medium bodied and overcarbonated. Drying finish with lingering pepper flavor. Not getting any of the advertised citrus.

So this is the beer Lift Bridge sued another brewery over to "protect their trademark".

They should focus on making a decent beer first... not buying this one again, glad it was only a single.

Appearance: Hazy honey yellow beer that poured a three finger white head that has quickly become a thin cap of foam.

Aroma: Dry yeasty tones of pear and apple. A dab of sweet malt that is hard to isolate.

Taste: Starts with a nice semi-dry flavor of pear and fig. There is an almost sweet syrup taste right before the finish that balances out the dryness of the palate without drawing too much attention to itself. Nicely prickly bitterness throughout, giving the palate an extra dimension to keep things interesting. Finish is decently smooth with a long echoing aftertaste of bitterness and some of the esters from the yeast. At 6% ABV there is a good amount of flavor. The can says "ale brewed with orange peel" but I can't really taste any orange or citrus here.

Mouthfeel: About medium in body with lots of effervescence and an almost syrupy feel at times. Good drinkability, though the bitterness takes its toll on the palate.

Final Thoughts: I like this beer if only for the fact that it's local and never been hyped up by anyone around here. I'd definitely recommend it to any fans of Belgian style ales who are looking for a light and near-refreshing beer. Although, Lift Bridge should consider removing the statement "ale brewed with orange peel" from their label. It makes them sound like Blue Moon or Shock Top and they are leaps and bounds above those craft wannabes. Perhaps something like "ale brewed without compromise" would be more suitable. Would I drink it again? Yes, perfect for summer.

Farm Girl pours a hazy yellow color, with almost no head. There is a slightly fruity and pepper like aroma. The taste has different spices, and flowery like notes, and hints of peppercorn. Nice complex flavors coming together, and not overpowering. Overall a nice Saison.

Cloves. That is all.

Initial smell of bananas.

Tasted like an ale which was made with too much clove. I could not get past the clove flavor. In fact, I could not finish it because it was so overpowering. I was looking forward to the "citrus" flavor since it's brewed with orange peel but it was lost on me. No flavor of orange at all.

Personally, this is not a beer I would buy again.
