12oz can, best by 10/25/23

On the pour just over 1 finger of off white, fine, head form on top of a mostly clear, reddish amber body. Thick lacing forms.

Aroma is malty and slightly sweet, with a definite bitter herbal hop aroma. The hops are clearly mostly bittering, but there is a slight piney aroma as well. The smell is a bit boozy.

Flavor is similar to the aroma, but is much more focused on hop bitterness than anything else. Herbal and slight piney flavors also come from the hops. The backbone is sweet and malty, but not intense like a malty ale. Bitter and herbal with a sweet balancing malt.

The feel is very dry and surprisingly crisp. The finish is however medium long and relatively mouthcoating. Very versatile feel, but a bit heavy to drink a lot of.

Overall this is a very traditional WCIPA. The hops are herbal and resinous instead of fruity, and the malts provide the balance instead of mouthfeel.

Drank straight from the can; birth date of 5/26/2022. Tastes of dank bitter hops with decent malt backing. Plenty of carbonation. Great west coast style IPA - one of the first crafts from CO that got me excited.

12oz can with a best by date of 12-16-21. Opened 12-4-21.
2 finger off-white head, dense and with very good retention. Fully laced.
Deep copper color IPA with nice clarity.
Floral, pine, grapefruit, some lemon and hop spice in the aroma over a lightly caramelly malt base.
Big caramel and toasty malts with a wallop of piney/citrusy hops.
Medium body and carbonation...prickly on the tongue with a substantial bitterness.
Lengthy finish that is bitter and lightly sweet initially then drying.
A very Celebration-like beer.
Very Good.

12 fl oz pull-tab can:

Citrus rind. Marmalade. Candied orange.

A bit dry for an IPA.

Fair fare for a flagship IPA, but it don't run with the big dogs in my book.

L-Copper/burnt orange color...nice frothy head but restrained head...

S-Excellent aroma of toasted toffee, caramel, biscuits.....and fresh citrus...

T-The malt really carries the day with this IPA with a delicious blend of toffee and caramel mingling with some citrus hops....hops are totally complementary but add a touch of tangerine and mandarin orange...

F-Medium bodied to full bodied...perfect carbonation...

O-I really like this beer. It's more of a red IPA in my opinion....nice rich malt base with the hops complementing rather than exerting. It's certainly not a hazy or NE IPA...and while it has characteristics of A west coast IPA true afficianados of that style will find it lacking in bitterness and hop forwardness....still I think this is a great tasting beer with Red IPA roots....if in that style it would be one of my favorites for that style...either way I really like it.

LOOK: Pours a clear and transparent amber color with a 2 finger off white head that has lingering retention and some sticky side glass lace.
AROMA: Pine Reisen and bread and biscuit malts, mixed with some caramel. Not hop forward but nice hop malt balance.
TASTE: Maintains the balance with the caramel and bread maltiness and pine reisen. The relatively high 7.2% ABV is not obvious in either the aroma or taste.
This IPA is to my liking. Hops are balanced, and do not overpower the mouthfeel or taste.

Nice 3F soft tan foam settles slowly to a 1F whipped topping. Nice loose lace walking down form the high point. Color is medium amber with about 70% transparency.

Nose hints at grapefruit, pine, and some light roasted malt notes.

Taste begins with roasted malt and a light hop bitterness. Not piney but maybe a bit of grapefruit pith that melds nicely with the roasted malt notes.

Mouthfeel is medium body with light carbonation. Finish is dry and bitter but not astringent and carbonation keeps it clean and tidy.

A rather simple tasting IPA that leans just a bit to the dark side with hops that bring out a roasted flavor rather than fruit or sweetness. This Upslope beer is a few good notches above their Citra Pale Ale. Overall pretty good but my local nod stays with Odell IPA.

Appearance: amber in color with a 1" head that lasts a bit. Some lace remains on the glass.

Smell: earthy and some pine comes through to the nose.

Taste: caramel, pine, some grapefruit, and and earthy bitterness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp throughout.

Overall: an easy to drink IPA that is well balanced.
