poured into the commemorative deschute's snifter.

A- amber with brown hues reminiscent of cherry juice. oh, it's in a can. why the can?

S- oh my. the dry-hopping is ever present. not over-powering, just fresh. first thoughts involve opening a new bag of Hallertau (or some noble variety) hops and breathing deep (i am momentarily perplexed by the images in my mind vs the reality that is in my hand). freshness like you wouldn't believe. i don't detect any of cascade's piney or citrusy notes; kudos for not using the old standby.

T- the nose follows closely onto the palate. hallertau hops through and through. citrusy and earth notes follow. mild lingering bitterness, closer to a hoppy pale ale than an IPA. well-balanced, but not for those seeking higher IBUs.

M- coats well. carbonation is very present and tingles on the edge of the tongue, but doesn't agitate the throat. if there was a drawback, it'd be the all-too-present carbonation.

D- with very little alcohol bite, and moderate bitterness, it's easy to have two or three before the ABV sneaks up like a process server with divorce papers.

i'd be interested to try this on tap to see what (if any) influence the can has..

This one is from Bitterbill, cheers Bill! Good looking can!

Pours a some what effervescent copper with 3 fingers of rocky tan head. Superior lacing & good head retention

S: Faint breadyness, caramel picks up as this warms, this the only thing that really holds this beer back for the most part...

T: Caramel, citrussy & piney hops, plus dryness up front. Caramel, herbal hops, doughyness, plus a bit of mineral hops as well as this warms, plus a slight astringency & booze kiss. Finishes piney with a touch of cookie dough, dryness caramel & pineapple; on the cusp of a 4.5

MF: Medium bodied, smooth carbonation & great balance, the malt sweetness really holds the hops in check, but never steps all over them

Great drinkability

Super drinkability, this really hides the ABV, pretty darned impressed with this one!

A - 3.5 - Orange-brown murky color with sparse white head that actually leaves pretty nice lacing.
S - 4.0 - Nice grapefruit, garlic, onion, orange, lemon-lime, pretty damn hoppy.
T - 4.0 - Garlic, grapefruit, pine, citrus zest. Background malt is mostly covered by hops.
M - 4.0 - Light-medium mouthfeel. Alc covered. Aftertaste is garlicy pine.
O - 4.0 - Good IPA.

12 oz can pours a deep amber with beautiful fluffy white head. Aroma is caramel, grapefruit, with a slight metallic hint. Taste is pine resin, lemon, tobacco, and toffee. Nice thick mouthfeel with drying finish and pleasant bitter aftertaste. Overall not a bad IPA - flavorful without being a tongue shredder and nicely balanced.

Dark for an IPA rust colored, slightly hazy with a huge crown of foam, nearly 2 and a half fingers of burnt parchment colored head with exceptional retention and sheets of lacing on the glass. A guy could die of thirst waiting for this head to subside...

Dark malt presence here, roasted, slight cocoa with strong earthy pine and chewing tobacco.

Roasted, almost honey like quality in the malts, sweetens even more by caramelized apple. Heavy handed malts but hops provide a pine resin note that is constant and uplifting throughout the drink before yielding to flashes of citrus towards the back end. Dries well for the amount of malt and is pleasantly bitter. Very well balanced.

Dries well despite being slightly heavy on the body and a bit viscous drinks better cold than warm. Carbonation is average and is smooth.

One of the most malt heavy IPAs out there and relies on alpha acids and over all bitterness to balance the malts out nicely. No flashes of hoppy brilliance but a well delivered IPA off the beaten path.

Pleasant, more subtle type of IPA.

Reddish golden in the snifter with the usual head and lacing in the glass. Quite malty with a rich mouth feel. Aroma is floral and very hoppy. Fruity flavors define the hops, which express a lot of aromatics and a modest bitterness. "Patagonian hops" sez the label. Roasted malt adds to the richness. Long aftertaste joined by the malt as well as the bitterness.

Very drinkable for the style, less bitter than many Pale Ales and even Ambers. I'll have to look for other Upslope beers, I have only seen the IPA and only tried it as a single in the "make your own six-pack" jungle at an Aurora liquor store.
