look: 3.25 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3 | feel: 3 | overall: 3

Appearance: Dark burnt orange color. Three finger of head on the pour which settled in while drinking. Lots of sticky lacing left behind. Lower end carbonation for the style.

Smell: Big caramelized malt front. Some medium to heavy bodied fruits show up on the body with accents of orange peel and grapefruit. More sticky malt toward the back end.

Taste: Big malts hit on the front. More malt on the body with a touch of sweetness but mainly heaviness with a touch of saturated citrus poking through. The finish is slightly chalky with more heavy malts.

Mouthfeel: malt, with a touch of citrus. Carbonation is what you'd expect.

Overall: i've really enjoyed the offerings I've had from Upslope so I won't let this disappointment get me too down. It's just a run of the mill malt forward single IPA. Next please.

12 oz. can poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance: Pours an amber-red color with a one-finger off-white head.

Smell: Interestingly caramel malt is the most prevalent smell here. There;s a very nice hop profile backing it up with pine, citrus, and some herbal qualities. Smells quite good, but not particularly like an IPA.

Taste: Once again, this does not seem like an IPA. There's definitely a strong hop presence with pine and herbal hops along with some citrus, but the caramel malt really takes over. Really more of a hoppy red than an IPA.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium carbonation. Pretty clean.

Overall: I really like this beer. That being said, I probably wouldn't call it an IPA.
