This lager pours from the can to a golden/straw color and produces only a small amount of foam- enough to look nice without producing so much to overflow your glass. Inhale the aromas and you get scents of sweet grains, dough, and light fruit.

Tasting this beer reveals about what you expect, with flavors of barley malt, grains, biscuits, and crackers. There is a little fruit in there as well and just the slightest spice. The beer finishes smooth and refreshing.

Upslope has produced a good, sessionable lager with this beer. The flavor of pale barley malt and grain forms the basis of this beer and its crisp, clean, easy- going nature make it a good choice for multiple purposes. At first glance, it might look like the typical macro- lager, but the nose and taste have none of that funk and/or cardboard flavor common to some of the big name, adjunct lagers.

Overall, a tasty little lager that I will keep in mind for my next party.

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #65 (June 2012):

LOOK: Clear straw yellow, thin head

SMELL: Biscuity, bread crust, faintly floral, nutty, clean

TASTE: Crisp, lighter body; doughy, faint sweetness, biscuity, dried grass, balanced bitterness, herbal; clean, dry finish

Awesome to see another craft brewer go wild and brew an American lager, and Upslope went right for it. The retro flavor is there, and it drinks very easy. The only missing factor is that it does not come in the tallboy format. Not a problem knocking a few of these back.

Pours a golden bright color. Nice head produced from vigorous pour. Light Czech Saaz hops on the nose. Very refreshing taste that goes down easy. At 4.8% abv this will be my new summer beer. I love that Upslope has expanded their portfolio with an awesome lager.

This brewery seems determined to present itself as a craft brewer without formulating anything interesting or 'good' in its nominal attempts at different styles.

This particular beer is like a sad knock-off of Avery's Joe's Pilsner, which in itself is less than perfect.

All Upslope beers suffer from lackluster carbonation- each sip lands dead on my palette. This lager needs to be dryer and present a bigger head, to start.

Again and again I wonder if these smaller brewers are starting with some target references - Urquell, Paulaner, Asahi?

No way this is worth $9 a six pack.

Cheers.

Pours straw gold with a fizzy white head that recedes after a minute or two. No lacing, but good carbonation with tiny bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass the entire time.

Smells like a refined euro lager. Crisp and clean with a slight sweetness and earthy hops coming through.

Taste mimics the nose with a good moderate dose of saaz hops providing earthy, spicy notes, plus a little bit of lemon. Light bready malts lend a slight sweetness. This is a flavor profile everyone is accustomed to from mass marketed pale lagers, but pay close attention and you'll notice the hop bill has been ratcheted up a little here and things are overall more refined. Nice refreshing beer that goes down easy without being too boring.

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a light golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is sweet, malty. Taste is crisp, malts, some grains, none of the sweetness in the smell, kind of on the mild side. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent brew.

Pours a clear straw color with a tight, white head that leaves little to no lacing.

Smells of light grains and grass with a touch of lemon.

Tastes of the grassy and lemon hops with some grainy sweetness. Light hops notes lead off with the grass and some lemon zest. A touch of grainy sweetness comes through and rounds everything out. Very light profile which needs some oomph.

Mouthfeel is light with a slightly crisp amount of carbonation.

Overall, the right notes are there, but it is too light for me. However, I think they accomplished their goal of making a light and unoffensive lager.
