GREAT BREW!!! I've never heard of this place and it's a diamond in the rough for out of towners. Great service!

Had the pleasure of visitation on 3 Aug 2012.

Not being from the area it's pretty easy to find. Once you arrive at the shopping center where they reside, look for the small fenced off area of imprisoned people and dogs, sitting at tables enjoying beer. It's "the" signature giveaway :-)

Let's cut to the chase. I only had time to have two of their beers, the "Whiskey Brown" and "Bourbon Aged Foreign-Style Stout". The brown was very good, but I must talk about their barrel aged jewel; it is *the best* I have ever had at a brewery. Most tend to be a little "hot" to my liking (understandable), but this one was exceptional. Near perfect balance, great taste, and just the right amount of alcohol peeking through. It stands to reason that if they can make this, they must know their stuff!

The place is small and a bit industrial, so if you are looking for classic "pub" decor, don't go. If you are like me though---there for the beer!, then it is a must go. They have glass between the tasting area and their brewery, proudly showing you what they are about. NICE.

The locals were very friendly and welcoming to this outsider (struck up good conversations with four people during my two hours). I noticed it being dog-friendly also.

Boulder is a cool town, but my short ride at this place makes me want to go back more than any other experience I had while visiting the area.

Love the Upslope!

A small brewery/beer bar tucked away in a strip mall on the northern end of Boulder. The tap room is small but the crowd is cool and the bartender is a great dude. They've got six taps, two of which are their flagship beers (a pale and an IPA) while the other four are seasonals and one offs, all of which are tasty. Nothing too crazy yet but I was told they are barrel aging a stout and their IPA for the GABF. Prices are pretty average but they will give you a bunch of free samples to get you started. Haven't done the tour yet but you can see pretty much the whole operation through the windows. Despite the small size this is one of my favorite breweries in the area. I'm excited to see where they go from here.

The Upslope brewery is a very small operation. The tap room is very intimate, which is just my way saying it can only hold about 12 people. This is no problem because the place is almost always empty. They keep 5-6 beers on tap, with free tasters and cheap pints. They don't server food, but you can help yourself to the large container of pretzels they keep on the bar. The tour is nice because you only have to walk 10 feet since the brewery is so small. You can see the workers manually placing the tops on each individual can. This brewery/tap room isn't meant to charm or impress. It's just an excellent little brewery that's fun to visit...and avoid the crowds of more known (not necessarily better) breweries. Oh yeah, the beer is amazing as well.

Brewery Visit #4

The final stop on the Boulder/Longmont brewery tour leg.

Upslope brewing is located just outside downtown Boulder in an industrial small business park. Walking into the brewery/tap room the first thing you notice is that this is a small place. Dead ahead is the bar with some seating to the right. We ordered a sampler and grabbed a stool.

The sampler included; Pale Ale, IPA, Craft Lager, Brown Ale, Maibock, Dopplebock, Belgian style Pale Ale, and one I can’t remember. The real treats here were the IPA, Craft Lager, and the Dopplebock.

The tap room is very basic; a few tables, stools, and some games. There was nothing like having a beer and playing Connect Four. This is a good place to have a few brews, all of which were solid, and highly drinkable. This was a pleasant farewell to Boulder. Newsflash from Fermentedly Challenged blog http://www.fermentedlychallenged.com/
Upslope will be building new brewhouse in Boulder to expand production. The new location will also have a tap room while the old location will be for experimental brews and keep the tasting room.

Service was excellent. No food to speak of.

In an unassuming industrial mall in north Boulder....a small place, maybe 12 small tables and 10-12 bar stools.

I was there on a Saturday afternoon, two days after Thanksgiving so it was a little slow as Boulder tends to clear out during Thanksgiving weekend.

The bartendress and bartender/brewer were excellent. Very attentive and willing to talk beer.

There was a catering truck outside offering burritos etc but I did not order any food.

Kid-friendly with a couple of families making an afternoon out of it.

Definitely will go back to try some more of their beers (check out the beer reviews). They were all good, some excellent.
