Good food and good beer as well. Place is typical Ely decor, focus is on the beer and not the atmosphere. Northern MN is great atmosphere by itself and can't be improved upon so they are wise to focus in the food. Stop by Piragis and get yourself a stainless growler allowing you to take this beer to the BWCAW!!!

Located on the bustling main drag, I was a bit worried about parking, but voila, there was a spot right in front.
As you enter this older building, the bar room is on your right and the dining room is on your left.
The actual bar seats about 20 with high tops by the front windows, regular tables in the rear and a counter running along the north wall. I would Guess 60 beer drinkers would fit comfortably.
The décor is wood floors, wood paneled walls with fish mounts and lumber jack stuff. Hey it is the north woods and it works. The brewery is at the back of the barroom behind glass.
There is a pool table and darts and some TVs for added distractions.
The casual dining room has about 20 tables with a stage in the rear.
10 or so house taps, with a few rotating seasonals. Everything I had was well made and balanced.
Service was friendly but they were a bit under staffed. No beer list, but the waitress was very beer savvy.
Food is decent bar food with some Tex-Mex options and lots of walleye selections.
I was in Ely to start a 7 day canoe trip through the Boundary Waters. I was glad to have a few well-made beers before starting.
Since the National Park does not allow bottles or cans, I went beer free for a week after my visit…...
