A- Poured from growler into a pint glass. Dark amber with a light frothy head that quickly dissipates, but leaves a light lacing as I drink.
S- mild, slight hoppiness, but not too pronounced. Perhaps some breadiness as it warms.
T- Toasted, sight coffee, but also a caramelized hint.
M- smooth, leaves a little stickiness, yet light and not too lingering in the mouth.

O- A pretty good well rounded flavorful dark alager, perfect for a hot summer night.

Based on a German recipe from almost 200 years ago, this "replicale" was reputedly the first beer ever commercially sold in the state of Indiana.

It pours a murky brown/almost black, with no carbonation or lace, from the growler.

Aroma is malty and chocolatey. Decent.

Where this one really comes together is the flavor. Light in body, GC Dark Lager tastes almost like a mildly smoked porter, with a hint of cocoa and a roasty finish. Mild, but quite a tasty brew, with personality and history. Bravo!

A: Pours a very thin, caramel colored head. Very brown/black in color and mostly opaque.
S: Very sweet smelling malts accompanied by a nice burnt/roasted aroma.
T: Great balance of roasted malts and hops. There is a slight bready, caramel taste as well.
Sweet up front, little bitter at the end.
M: Smooth, semi-creamy, slightly sticky. A decent hang at the end.
D: This is not heavy at all despite the appearance of the brew. Could session with this and would like to do so because the taste warrants it.

16 ounce can. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a dark brownish/red color with about an inch off-white head that sticked around for a while. There's also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like caramel and toasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and a bit of of coffee. The taste is similar (but stronger) compared to the aroma, and there's also a bit of smokiness and saltiness noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick with moderate carbonation. $2.70 a single.

Picked up a growler of this after their Aurora Farmer's Fair Brewery Special which was a steal with pints at $3 and pulled pork sandwiches & chips for only $5. Growler cost me $12 as I hadn't a growler to trade, if I did it would of only cost me around $10.

A: Being spoiled by dark lagers of other styles like schwarzbier I don't know if I can rightfully judge a euro dark lager. I can say that this is a great looking drink with a decent amount of carbonation and with a vacuum on their bottles they last quite some time prior to opening.

S: Smelled great! and I really could smell the yeast in the drink, smelled a lot like bread and it was a very enjoyable smell.

T: A little bit weak and watered down for my flavor but I think my palette has been spoiled by the russian imperial stouts I've been drinking lately.

M: Really nice similar to the Sprecher Bavarian Black... very good smooth feeling on the taste buds, not to carbonated and doesn't tickle the tongue.

D: A perfect 5, I drank the whole growler in 1 night with my lady and we both enjoyed it throughly!

Pours a light brown. Almost dark dark orange. Clear and lighter than I was expecting. Smells sweet and malty. Some faint hops and a solid lagery aroma. Tastes sweet and smooth. Light flavour. Not too exciting. Very solid though for the style. Quite enjoyable!

I finally got a chance to check out the new expanded brewery tonight, try a few samples, and pick up a four pack of cans of Dark Lager. This was my favorite of the samples I tried, with none of the others being very impressive.

Poured from the pint can into my glass mug, this beer is a very dark and murky red when held to the light. There is a nice creamy head that sticks around for a long time and leaves decent lacing. The smell is dark roasty malt, but not like roasted barley. It is a minerally/chocolatey smell that is pleasant. The taste follows the smell with a smooth flavor of dark malts. Nice and clean with just enough aftertaste to make you want more. Body and mouthfeel are dead-on and seem just right for the style.

This normally isn't a style I would go for, but Great Crescent has pulled off a lovely lager. This is probably the best beer I've had from this brewery the best Euro Dark Lager I've ever tasted.
