Pours a golden amber with a frothy head that almost, but not quite dissipates, leaving a thin film of foam. Slight delicate strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma is fresh and mildly citrus.

Taste surprises me---mostly pine, herbal and a hint of styptic pencil. From the aroma I expected more citrus. I had this on tap in Raleigh a few months ago and remember it being much more citrus with a finish that carried that hint of sweetness a citrus IPA will bring. This one starts and ends assertively bitter.

Mouthfeel is strong on carbonation with a medium body.

If you like a good, bold astringent IPA, this one's for you. I'd definitely drink this again, preferably on tap.

Nice to see that I can get Aviator stuff in bottle now over here in Greensboro.Poured into an imperial nonic a deep rich golden with a great two finger sticky crown that settles very slowly into a creamy-like mass.Citric and leafy hops in the nose although not real strong,a faint biscuit malt note is there as well.Leafy and grapefruit rind hop flavors with dryer bready malt base, the hops are the main attraction as they should be.A solid NC IPA,not in your face but the hops are the main attraction.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.

The hop character this beer wields is pretty crazy, very aromatic with piney, citric, and tobacco. The palate is a mouthful of grapefruit rind with a evergreen undertone. Just enough malt to keep it balanced. Slightly warming but still very quaffable.

A very well put together IPA.

12 oz can, fridge temp, snifter, no freshness info.

Pours a hazy deep orange color. Really, big, dense, billowy head, off white in color. Good head retention, but as it fades it leaves some really nice lacing and a nice rocky appearance.

Pretty balanced aroma. Bready, biscuity malt seems to come out first. Resin, grapefruit, pine, a touch floral.

The balance of the taste leans more to the hoppier side of things. You can tell your simple, classic c hops were used in this one. Pine resin, grapefruit citrus, a bit floral with some nice bready malt to round it out. Quite a bitter beer which lingers well after the finish.

Medium bodied, easy drinking.

This is a run of the mill "good" IPA. If this were a local beer or something, I could see consuming lots of this. As it is, I probably wouldn't buy this again, but worth one try atleast. Beers that come to mind that remind me of this might be 60 minute or two hearted.

Mixed reactions to this 12 oz can of Aviator IPA. There was too much foamy head, even with a fairly gentle pour. The medium body was about right for style and it seemed smoother than average, but there was also an astringency that I felt even on my lips.It has a very good citrus aroma from the hops followed by a relatively disappointing and much more earthy/herbal (but good) flavor.

O: Decent but too many unflawed IPAs out there to recommend this one.

Growler shared by Brodie - much obliged!

Pours a hazy copper color with a one-finger cream-colored head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of pale malts with good amounts of earthy and lightly herbal hops. Also present are very light hints of vanilla.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Smooth pale malt flavors kick things off before being joined quickly by herbal and slightly floral hop flavors. Midway through the sip the hops fade a bit, segueing into mild vanilla flavors. The vanilla carries through to a moderately bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a smooth thickness with grainy carbonation.

Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass with no problems and could have another.

Overall this is an IPA that's slightly better than middle-of-the-road. Not worth writing home about but certainly worth a shot.

As usual i let the glass sit on the table and I pour the beer into it from about half an inch above the rim of the glass, in doing so this beer ends up with a nice two inch light tan head that ever so slowly settles into a nice thick biscuity lacing above a honey golden colored beer.

Pine hops aroma with some hints of herbs/floralness to it. Very nice in the first minute or two and then seemed to diminish slightly as I drank this glass of Hogwild.

Nice pine hops taste with just bits of floral hops making its presences known as this glass empties.

A light dryish aftertaste with some hops taste and slight bitterness on this medium bodied IPA.

This beer was damn tasty, good hops presence without overkilling it.

On tap at Sawmill Tap Room in 3/2/12.

Pours an light, clear orange color with a soft, thin layer of creamy, white head that has decent retention. The nose is big, floral, and very citrusy. The flavor is lightly malty, bitter, and piny up front and finishes with a smooth, floral, citrusy hop bite. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp, and smooth.

This is a well balanced, smooth, easy drinking beer. In my opinion it's the best beer that Aviator has to offer.
