Another very strong effort by aviator. Very strong hop profile and a relatively heavy, unfiltered IPA.

Not that that's a problem. Even with strong hoppiness, it still retains a sense of balance (unlike say, some of the green flash IPA i've had on tap).

Very pleasant to drink, but to me comes across as not much of a session beer or something you would drink a few of casually (like say, the Carolina IPA made a few miles down the road). While this is, overall, a very stong beer, I still think the Pale Ale is the best thing Aviator has made so far. (553 characters)

Nice to see that I can get Aviator stuff in bottle now over here in Greensboro.Poured into an imperial nonic a deep rich golden with a great two finger sticky crown that settles very slowly into a creamy-like mass.Citric and leafy hops in the nose although not real strong,a faint biscuit malt note is there as well.Leafy and grapefruit rind hop flavors with dryer bready malt base, the hops are the main attraction as they should be.A solid NC IPA,not in your face but the hops are the main attraction. (502 characters)

12 oz can, fridge temp, snifter, no freshness info.

Pours a hazy deep orange color. Really, big, dense, billowy head, off white in color. Good head retention, but as it fades it leaves some really nice lacing and a nice rocky appearance.

Pretty balanced aroma. Bready, biscuity malt seems to come out first. Resin, grapefruit, pine, a touch floral.

The balance of the taste leans more to the hoppier side of things. You can tell your simple, classic c hops were used in this one. Pine resin, grapefruit citrus, a bit floral with some nice bready malt to round it out. Quite a bitter beer which lingers well after the finish.

Medium bodied, easy drinking.

This is a run of the mill "good" IPA. If this were a local beer or something, I could see consuming lots of this. As it is, I probably wouldn't buy this again, but worth one try atleast. Beers that come to mind that remind me of this might be 60 minute or two hearted. (933 characters)

Mixed reactions to this 12 oz can of Aviator IPA. There was too much foamy head, even with a fairly gentle pour. The medium body was about right for style and it seemed smoother than average, but there was also an astringency that I felt even on my lips.It has a very good citrus aroma from the hops followed by a relatively disappointing nad much more earthy/herbal (but good) flavor.

O: Decent but too many unflawed IPAs out there to recommend this one. (457 characters)

Growler shared by Brodie - much obliged!

Pours a hazy copper color with a one-finger cream-colored head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of pale malts with good amounts of earthy and lightly herbal hops. Also present are very light hints of vanilla.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Smooth pale malt flavors kick things off before being joined quickly by herbal and slightly floral hop flavors. Midway through the sip the hops fade a bit, segueing into mild vanilla flavors. The vanilla carries through to a moderately bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a smooth thickness with grainy carbonation.

Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass with no problems and could have another.

Overall this is an IPA that's slightly better than middle-of-the-road. Not worth writing home about but certainly worth a shot. (868 characters)

As usual i let the glass sit on the table and I pour the beer into it from about half an inch above the rim of the glass, in doing so this beer ends up with a nice two inch light tan head that ever so slowly settles into a nice thick biscuity lacing above a honey golden colored beer.

Pine hops aroma with some hints of herbs/floralness to it. Very nice in the first minute or two and then seemed to diminish slightly as I drank this glass of Hogwild.

Nice pine hops taste with just bits of floral hops making its presences known as this glass empties.

A light dryish aftertaste with some hops taste and slight bitterness on this medium bodied IPA.

This beer was damn tasty, good hops presence without overkilling it. (722 characters)

On tap at Sawmill Tap Room in 3/2/12.

Pours an light, clear orange color with a soft, thin layer of creamy, white head that has decent retention. The nose is big, floral, and very citrusy. The flavor is lightly malty, bitter, and piny up front and finishes with a smooth, floral, citrusy hop bite. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp, and smooth.

This is a well balanced, smooth, easy drinking beer. In my opinion it's the best beer that Aviator has to offer. (463 characters)

I unfortunately got an over-primed bottle....so the taste and smell are affected severely. The beer poured hazy orange with massive fizzy head. The smell and taste as mentioned above are similar to other over-primed beers. There is that bitter citrus and sweet malt base. The mouthfeel was medium in body with huge carbonation. Overall, I'm disappointed...hopefully others have found joy in this beer. (401 characters)

Bomber poured into a pilsner glass.

A- Pours a touch hazy amber. 2 finger white head descended slowly with little lacing.
S- Herbal hops and pine.
T- Herbal hops with some sweet malts.
M- Moderate carbonation, light body.
D- Not bad, like the higher ABV. A very drinkable beer. Would get again. (295 characters)
