A: A dingy orange glow, a shade of brown hugs the hips.

S: Pine, Grape, mildewed floral.

T: Pine, a hint of grape as if you'd laid a grapevine in the bottom and are experiencing the final hints of flavor
,
M: Slick, a tad muddy, I prefer my IPA's crisp or deep bodied, this is stuck in the etheral realm of adequate.

I could session this with ease, but it's not something I would go ahem...Hog Wild over...

Pours golden with a white head that rises like a thuderhead. The foam slowly recedes leaving some nice lacing and small foam curds. The smell is floral, resiny hops, slightly sweet, not very strong, but pleasant. The taste is grapefruit, pine and somewhat bready. Bitter, but not too much, sweet in the middle, then bitter on the finish. Not too carbonated and a bit dry when it comes to mouthfeel. a tad thin perhaps. Overall, much bette than I had expected. A solid to satisfying IPA, not an All Star, but definately Big League. I'll revisit this one again.

Pours a cloudy amber with a frothy white head.

The smell is very earthy, floral and grassy. Definitely an east coast IPA.

The taste is also very earthy and bitter. It has an almost dirty smoky quality to it.

The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with medium carbonation.

I'm more of a fan of the west coast IPA's but this isn't bad just average. The earthy dirt flavors are just too pronounced to say it's better than average.

12oz can poured into a pint glass
A: Hazy pale brown color with a lingering two-finger head
S: Somewhat muted, some generic grassy/hop/malt notes
T: A nice hop presence backed by grassy/herbal/earthy tones, the malt is there but backstage
M: Medium bodied, a bit bitter
O: Definitely one I'd like to try again, it's got good hops but the other qualities are unique and add nice secondary characteristics so it's not all about the hops

A- Pours golden and clear with a slight haze, creamy and foamy white head with good retention after the pour

S- peppery and grassy hops, metallic, toasted bready malt, earthy tones

T- there's actually some sharp hop bitterness on the tongue up front, but not really picking up any distinct hop flavors. There's a mesh of grassy, herbal and maybe fruity. Malt takes a back seat but does come through with some bread and vienna flavors. Finish is dry and earthy

M- medium body with medium prickling carbonation, foamy mouthfeel leads to a smooth finish

O- a bit raw and rough around the edges, but a good dose of hops

Appearance 3.5: Poured out a deep golden color. Completely translucent. Nice 1/4" head quickly faded into CO2 foamy residue.

Smell 4.25: Wow! Amazing bouquet on this beer. Lovely notes of hop-induced citrus, specifically grapefruit and tangerine. On the same level is a wonderful and warm scent of barley malt. Promising.

Taste 4.25: Front is slightly sweet, but a big hit of alkaline bitterness from the hops lets you know what is on deck next. Middle is slightly dry, with a very nice citrus bite from the hops. Finish is where more of the hops hit, but this time it is well balanced with a dry and refreshing grainy kick that reminds me very much of Maris Otter. Aftertaste is delicious: lots of alkaline bitterness that is entirely in the back of the palate and is very refreshing.

Mouthfeel 3.75: Well balanced and complementary to the flavor of the beer.

Overall 4.0: An outstanding IPA. The hops used are all complementary to each other and are expertly balanced with a dry yet assertive barley malt taste. This beer would be an excellent session, but at 6.7%, you had better clear your calendar for the evening. Recommended!

A - Pours a nice craggy off white head with excellent retention. Great lacing. Color of good honey.

S - Balanced hops and malts, nothing offensive but nothing impressive either.

T - Pretty balanced, but much like the smell, good but nothing impressive really.

M - Good, very easy drinking.

Overall a good session beer.. Got this in a six pack after taking the brewery tour. I think the use of some fresh hops and more varied malts could really elevate this since they tell you there they use pretty much all hop pellets and standard barley malts. Like I said though this is still a good IPA and a good addition to the local market.

Poured on-tap at the Tap House and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a golden, crystal clear coloring with a slow carbonation flow through the body and a big, fluffy, clingy, white head. Nose of resinous hops, caramel backbone, and a subtle bitterness. Smells like an English IPA. Flavors are bitter forward, with a citrus backbone, toffee and roast notes, and a cedar pitch highlight. Smooth, robust, on a light body, with a resinous, building bitter aftertaste. Roast and bitter linger to a slick finish.
